I've noticed theres comments going way back to 2012, so this bug has been in spotify for a long time.
Can we have an offical responce from spotify on this matter?

I dont know if theres any connection but I'm alawys on soundrop when this happens, are you?

great thanks
This has just started happening to me as well...
Never started happening to me until yesterday and I have been an avid Spotify and Sounddrop user for years.
However, I have not used Sounddrop recently. Instead, I'm listening to both personal playlists and shared playlists and after a while of it being paused, a random song will start playing( more often than not from a random spot in the song). These songs are not songs that I have in any playlist and I usually have never heard of them before.
I need this resolved because I know there will be one day I forget to mute my computer in lecture halls and some crazy song starts blasting spontaneously...
Thanks
Peter

I do not use Soundrop, and this is constantly happening to me. It also is the exact same song each time, and only on my laptop. (I also have spotify installed on my tablet and phone)
It happens before all sorts of things, here are some to give you an idea:
I have (in my possesion) all of the devices my spotify account is installed on as well, so it's not just someone messing with me. I feel like I have a phantom in my computer that only wants me to listen to David Bowe. Not that this is terrible, but please help.
Just experienced this on the web player. It was exactly 3:45 a.m. and suddently and quite louldy Spotify starts randomly playing music from my computer in the other room. I jolted up thinking someone was in my apartment who also loved Angels & Airwaves and had the intent of consuming my corpse to the peppy sounds of "Everything's Magic." There's nothing more terrifying than the vision of some blonde-wig-wearing, hatchet-holding, plastic-pants-suit donning intruder dancing the Carlton over my partially devoured body, all while the last voice I ever hear, beyond my own deafening scream of agony, is Tom DeLonge's whiny, Californian-esque lilt reminding me that everything is, indeed, magic.
Well, thankfully I'm safe if anyone was wondering. And I've got a new conversation starter for my next therapy session. But, I still didn't resolve why the spotify web player decided to play on its own. Non-premium account. OSX Yosemite. Firefox. AdBlock Plus. Facebook was open and ABP blocked some ads around the same time. Not sure if any of that matters.
This exact same thing happened to me at 3:45 AM last night. I was sleeping, and then all of a sudden "Slide Away" by Oasis was turned up all the way in my bedroom. I thought somebody was playing a rude trick on me (I love that song). I quickly checked my computer for somebody remoted in, but nothing.
Glad I wasn't the only one!
I also recently had this problem, I left it paused on my phone and charging on my desk and after a while, it started playing again, it freaked the f- out of me because I was watching a series on "real" supernatural events
This has been an issue since 2012....any fixes? It happens to me every single day, I am about to stop using Spotify, it's interrupting my sleep, my dinner, playing all day while I am not home. Not cool.
Hi, I don't know what soundrop is but i have the same problem. please advise. it drives my colleagues mad!
