My Question or Issue

Recently my desktop spotify won't let me download my playlists, at first it shows it is "starting" to download them but never actually downloads them.

I've tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling, deleted cache, closed my session and opened it again.

I don't have any spotify songs downloaded at the moment, so I don't think it is an issue with the limit of songs you can download.

Hi there @camm_21,

Thank you for taking the time to post here in the Community. This seems odd so let's continue to investigate this together. Great job with the troubleshooting so far!

Can you start with trying using a different internet connection to see if the issue persists?

On another note, if you're using any VPN, disable it to see if the issue persists.

Let us know how it goes so that we can continue to assist you if you need us to 🙂

Take care!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Hi Jeremy!

Thanks for replying 😄

I've tried with another WiFi connection too, as you suggested, but the problem persisted, and also I don't use VPN so I think the other solution doesn't work for me.

Have a great day/night!

Hey @camm_21,

Thanks for your reply in this thread 🙂

In this case, you might need to check for any local settings on your device that could be blocking the app. In case there's some antivirus software or such that could be restricting access to the app, try whitelisting Spotify.

On another note, if you log in with another account, did you experience the same inconvenience? It'd be great if you could share with us some screenshots of what you're mentioning.

Lastly, did you notice if this is happening on another computer as well? It’d be awesome if you could check. You can ask for the device of a relative or a friend to open your account and check.

We'll be on the lookout for your replies.

Cheers!

Hi CarlosE,

Thank you for replying too 😄

I tried whitelisting, per your suggestion and sadly it still won't work.

I logged in with my sister's account on the same device and her playlists won't download either.

Here are some pictures of how they won't download, the first picture was at 9.38 pm and I had just clicked on the download button.

Second Picture time: 9.40 (2 minutes after the download was supposed to begin) but the playlist hadn't even started to download, aslo the green bar right under the bottom "Tu Biblioteca" that tells you how much has been downloaded hasn't shown yet either.

Also I opened my account on my sister's computer and there was no problem with downloading playlists on her computer (We have the same model, HP Laptop 14, but it seems that only I have this issue).  As it can be seen in screenshots of her computer there is this bar that shows how much has been downloaded(Right under the bottom of "Your Library"), yet in the screenshots of my computer that bar is not seen, even after some minutes have passed, nonetheless in my sister's computer it hadn't even passed 10 seconds and it had already started to download the playlist without issues.

That is all I have regarding the status of the issue, thank you so much for trying to help to figure out what is going on 🙂

Have a wonderful day/night!

Hey @camm_21,

Thanks for the thorough description!

Would you like to try performing a complete clean reinstall of the app on your machine in this case? It seems to me that this is either app or device related.
A new clean install will either solve the issue or narrow it down in the right direction 😄
Let us know how it goes! 🙂
