Spotify free in Japan. 15 hours limit reached after 8?

Spotify free in Japan. 15 hours limit reached after 8?

Hi Spotify folks.

I'm on the free plan in Japan, which gives me a time limited 15 hours of music per month on my windows desktop. For the last few months I've been getting a warning that I'm up to the 15 hour limit when I've only listened to it for like 8. Confirmed this month with a stop watch. What gives? Is it a rolling month, like from now (12/7) going back a month, which then it probably correct, or does the timer get reset on the 1st day of each month, in which case no way? Or is it coercive tactics to try and get me into going premium? Thoughts and comments welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hi there @23307612,

thanks for reaching out about this !

Let's clarify some points out which may explain your experience :

- Free subscribers in Japan are limited to 15 hours of listening every 30 days on all devices except mobile

- A user will receive an error message when the limit is reached.

- Users also cannot listen on Google Home or use Connect once they reach the limit

- The limit is reset every 30 days and the count starts when a user logs in on any devices to start to play

 - The timer does not get reset on the 1st of each month

Hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any further questions 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Just to be clear, you say that the timer is reset every 30 days, but not on the 1st of the month. Would that then be a case of a 15 hour limit applied every 30 days since I first installed the application? Or is it just a 15 hour limit over any 30 day period?

Hi @23307612,

Which date are you counting these hours from?

As explained in the last reply, it does not count starting from the 1st of each month.

Keep me posted 🙂
