Spotify is not working properly with Discord

My Question or Issue

So recently my Spotify application has not been working properly with my discord application. Songs that I am listening to on the Spotify app does not show up on my discord status. I also cannot play the songs that my friends are listening to (not the  listen along feature). Lastly, when I try to connect my Spotify to a device like my Google Home Mini, it also does not connects. This problem only occurs on my desktop's Spotify application. 
I have tried
-reinstalling both apps 
-clearing cache
-disconnecting and reconnecting the Spotify integrations 
-enabling and disabling "display status" on discord

i also have this exact problem since a few days ago, strangely my phone shows status but even after reinstalling and doing everything that i seen on discord and spotify still nothing changed and my computer spotify just wont sync with my phone or show up on discord...

I've been having this issue too. It started yesterday (9/20/2022). I'd never had problems with it before. I tried all of the usual suggestions (unlinking and linking the accounts again, clean installations of both programs, etc.) and anything I try fixes it for a short time, but then it'll go back to not displaying on Discord again. Hi. i think someone just found the problem. so it's spotify that has the bug. nothing you can do unless you downgrade the app. source from spotify hangout discord

I am having the same problem and have done all the above suggestions - I notice however when I see a friends spotify activity on discord and try to do the "listen on spotify" or "listen along" options (I do have spotify premium) the App icon for spotify lights up orange as if it sees an action is being performed but nothing happens after that in the app or in discord.

Indeed, this started happening after I updated Spotify a few days ago. It's just weird that it doesn't seem to affect everyone. Like some weird API issue that's not coming through on Discord. I've realized that if I'm listening on the website and turn on the app, it doesn't sync to what I'm listening to. It's like the website and the app are behaving as if it's two completely different instances.

I'm having a similar problem. Discord its not showing what I am listening to if I listen through the Spotify dekstop app, if I use the web player or my phone, Discord shows the song without any problems.
Also, the Spotify Connect feature is giving me the same problem. Works in phone and web app, not in the desktop app.

Please try the troubleshooting steps below:

1. Disconnect Discord from Spotify app. Here are the steps: https://support.spotify.com/article/spotify-on-other-apps/

2. Uninstall and redownload Spotify directly from Microsoft Store

3. Once installed, log back in and reconnect Discord. Here are the steps: https://support.spotify.com/article/discord-and-spotify/

In this case, can you share with us what troubleshooting you've follow so far? This way we can avoid repeating any steps.

On another note, would you mind sending us the exact Spotify version you're running in the affected device?

Lastly, as mentioned before in this thread, if you haven't yet, would you mind trying by disconnecting Discord from Spotify to check if you notice any difference? Just to confirm is your account Premium or is it in our free service?

I have the same problem for the last week or 2 I’ve tried reinstalling both discord and Spotify I’ve tried the web download and Microsoft store neither have worked I’m losing my mind trying to solve the problem please help

i'm so sorry for the delay, i never checked this thread again. the issue seemed to have fixed itself the next day. this time i didn't do any troubleshooting, as last time this occurred, there was really nothing i could do but wait

Having a similar issue to this unfortunately. When sending/receiving Spotify links in Discord messages, the preview for it does not populate, only the link followed by a blank box. It just started within the past 1-2 days.

We have completed the following troubleshooting steps:
Quit/restart discord

Restart computer
Unlink Spotify from discord and relink
Check Hosts file for blocking (none found)

Test in Discord web app, appears fine (unique to Discord desktop app)

Other link previews load without issue (youtube, pictures, website links etc)

I have a problem with spotify and discord.

i can't get my desktop spotify to connect with my discord.

the web version works fine with my discord same with the mobile version.

here are some things that i have tried:

1. disconnecting and connecting in all the ways possible.
2. downloaded the spotify version and then the microsoft version.
3. watched many youtube videos.
4. updated my discord and spotify.
5. have also ran my discord and spotify in admin.

I can't update my windows so that could be the problem, I will try to get it fixed.(I'm on win10)

I know Spotify doesn't work in Russia, but for some reason my discord status sometimes shows what I'm listening to, and I was wondering why. It only shows up when I play my favorite playlist, or when I visit a songwriter and start playing one of their songs, or when I search for and play some music. Other times the discord shows no activity, such as when I try to play any playlist. I am not using any VPNs and it works on every platform (Android, Desktop, Web)
