Spotify keeps defaulting to one song

Spotify keeps defaulting to one song

Every time I boot up my computer and Spotify loads up, it loads into the same song paused at the same spot, regardless of what I listened to last on my computer or phone/other devices. I uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify, which fixed the problem for about one boot cycle. Now I'm stuck on a different song that's paused at a specific time and it always defaults to that song now.

Please help. It's very minorly annoying. Someone help me squash this bug.

Hey @Shirauk, welcome to the community!

Seems like this issue could be related to the cache used by Spotify on your computer.

I suggest reinstalling the app one more time. Once the app is uninstalled, and before installing it again, head to ~:\Users\"USERNAME"\AppData\Local, and delete the Spotify folders.

You might need to modify your folder options to show hidden files, folders, or drives to find the Spotify folder.

Let me know how it goes.

Hey @Alfredo, thanks for the welcome!

I uninstalled Spotify and wasn't able to find the folder, even with hidden files shown and doing a computer-wide search. So I went ahead and reinstalled it, then had no problem finding it. I also have the same problem (but with a different song) where it starts me off at a specific spot of the same song when I boot up, even if that's not where I ended.

So I went ahead and uninstalled Spotify again, and the folder's gone now. So it's looking like the Spotify folder is being deleted when I uninstall Spotify.

Best,

Shirauk

Hey Shirauk!

Do you happen to have a different desktop/laptop you could use to see if the same issue comes up?

Are you using an administrator profile on your current desktop? If not, try running Spotify as the administrator on your next session to see if it helps.

Keep me posted.

Hi Alfredo,

Sorry for the very late response. I don't recall if the issue also happened on my laptop, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

The problem was occurring while running as administrator.

Since my posting I have lost the issue. I went through many uninstall/reinstall cycles, and I haven't had the issue pop up again in a month or so.

Alright!

Glad to hear the issue is gone now.

Feel free to post again if it comes back, we'll do our best to find out what could be causing it.

All the best.
