Spotify keeps stopping - streaming issues - i'm off!!

well i hate to say this but after more than three years as a premium spotify user i may be leaving.  due to constant issues with streaming quality things have come to a head and i am trying alternatives.  currently got a 15 day trial to try with a rival.  so far so good no constant pausing like i get with spotify.  a bit different - going to take some getting used to, but for me the constant pausing has become a big issue.  i will still be using spotify as i have almost a month subscription left.  hopefully they can sort their issues in time.  this has been happening for a month or two now so dont hold out much hope.  a shame really, i havebeen a big spotify fan for a long time and drive my frinds mad saying how great it is.  maybe it has outgrown itself - server issues maybe i dont know.  i have 30mb connection and have tried all the tips listed on this community including turning off firewall (?!) and harware acceleration to no avail also tried running in poor sound quality mode - still breaking up/pausing.

Nope no errors there either, not sure what is going on! Does it start playing again as soon as your press play?

Yes, no problems when startign again, works beautifuly.  All the songs being played are stored / cached locally.  Will leave Console open again today and see if I can cant anything to help pin it down.

Am looking and do not see any non supported files.  If the player did encounter a non playable file, shouldnt it just skip and then on to the next?

It's worth installing the linked codec pack and see if that makes any difference too. Yeah, Spotify won't even import unsupported file types.

I have been having the same problem for the last two weeks.  Very annoying.  It stops for about 20 seconds, starts again for a few seconds, stops again.  I hope they're working on a fix.

I am having problems streaming from the Chrome Browser for Mac.

My connection and the status are OK but while I'm playing a song it pauses and it doesn't change the icon to a play.

The workaround is to pause and then press play again.

I can happen like every 20 seconds which is really a problem.

I'm attaching a screenshot, the bar does not move.

Well, I was glad that I was not the only one having streaming issues. Don't get me wrong, i'm not glad that anyone is having problems, just glad that it's not something I broke. I am running the Linux Desktop version and as of yesterday I can barely play anything. It's either choppy or will not play at all. My connection is fine and I even tried with 2 seperate ISP's to rule out issues with that. Is spofify outgrowing thier servers? -- That's what seems to be the case.

Anyone have any answers on what options or settings to look at?

In many years, I have NEVER used spotify from a web browser. iOS or Desktop are the only ways I have accessed Spotify. Do you want me to try? If it may answer some questions I will certanly try.

The web player streams direct from Spotify's servers whereas the desktop client uses the P2P protocol.

I finally had a chance to try the "Spotify Web Player" and although it seemed to work fine, I will no longer use it. The desktop application is a much better way to access spotify. If I continue to have issues with spotify I will have to decide how to deal with it. The idea that the desktop application uses P2P rather then direct access is baffleing to me.

Is there not an actual "Support" option with Spotify. I've been using it for years and never needed support till now.

Pretty clear descision, I'd say. Bandwidth is not cheap and that probably has significant impact on it's usage.
