Spotify not responding to media keys unless window is active

Two days ago Spotify stopped responding to all media key input unless the window is active.

I have made no hardware or software changes, I have tried restarting the computer, I have tried logging out and back in, and I have tried doing a clean install. None have worked.

This is driving me absolutely crazy.

I have the same issue since the latest update. Chrome isn't hijacking any of my media keys though. No other programs were modified since then so it has to be something with the Spotifiy app
