Spotify not working on my laptop

I am having an issue with my Spotify on my laptop. It worked fine and then the next day it would not play any music. I closed out of it but when I opened it back up it still wouldn't play. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Now I get a message that says “the installer is unable to install Spotify because the files to be written are in use by another process. Please make sure Spotify is not running and retry (error code 18). I don't know how it can be running when I uninstalled it. I am hoping that someone else has had this problem and can help me out. Thank in advance for any help or advice.
