My Question or Issue
Hi, when I load my Local Files onto Spotify, some of the images (the cover images on the songs) randomly dissapear. Is there a reason for this and how do I fix it?
Thanks for letting me know @bionicmike!
I have forwarded this issue to be checked.
In the meantime try to do that from Safe Mode. If that works use sfc /scannow command or DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in the command prompt or PowerShell.
Hey @bionicmike,
Does this happen when playing the songs from the Local Files folder, or are you trying to play them from a mixed playlist (local files and Spotify content).
Try to turn off the Local Files Source from the Spotify Settings and add it again from scratch. It could also help if you move the local files to a different Windows folder/disk before adding them to Spotify.
Let me know how it goes 🙂
This is just exclusively Local Files, there's no Spotify content.
I've tried that, moving it to a different computer, the same result happens. Some images just straight up do not show up.
Some good news and bad news...
After some troubleshooting I somehow managed to get ALL the image covers showing up on my phone (finally), but my computer still doesn't show some of the image covers, which is weird, because the desktop is where the files are originated from...
Hey @LorenXK,
Now the player is messed up again. This group of files that I just uploaded to Spotify through a new playlist doesn't have any of the images showing up at all.

Will check them right away 🙂
The feedback has been passed to Spotify as well 😉
Hey @bionicmike,
I tried those 25 songs you sent me and everything worked fine again for me.
Try logging out and back in several times to see if it makes any difference.
Thank you 🙂
That doesn't work, they still don't show up as images at all.
EDIT: I found a temporary workaround but I'm not going to mark this as a solution yet since I still am going to try this with all my songs and make sure this solution works for all my playlists.
In order for the images to appear, I have to uninstall Spotify from my phone, then import the songs. After importing the songs, I have to turn off local files for all other folders except the songs that I'm going to import, then import them, then REINSTALL the app, and download those songs.
It's sort of annoying because I think I have to do this with every playlist but if this works then I think I've found a solution to my week-long ordeal. ^_^
Hey @bionicmike,
That’s really awesome that it finally is working!
Pleaee let me know for further developments 🙂
Ookay, so...
I thought this was working but apparantely once I opened the desktop version of the app again it refuses to load up the images, and now my phone doesn't have the images anymore.
I've tried logging in and out, restarting, uninstalling the app, it doesn't work.
EDIT: I'm not sure if this helps anything - Spotify seems to be really random. One minute a song's image will show up, and then the next minute it'll turn into that grey disk again as the image cover. Some images consistently have their image covers, and some don't have it all, while some just pop up and dissapear again randomly.
So I'm not sure if this helps, but here's an image showing another issue that happened last night...
This issue doesn't go away, even after restarting and reinstalling Spotify a bunch of times over. The image cover will show up on one device but be completely grey on the other.
Hey @bionicmike,
Sorry for the inconvenience!
I’d suggest removing all the images again, reinstalling again (on all devices) and maybe try adding the images again.
Maybe try some fresh images or change the way the images are saved?
We have tried all troubleshooting steps. There's not much else I can do here 🙂
Hope it helps!
Have a great rest of summer!
I've done that several time through (wiping all the images, reinstalling, etc.) and it still doesn't work.
Is there any other way to reach out to Spotify? Messaging SpotifyCares seems to do nothing, and I'm not sure if there's any other way of reaching out to them to fix this issue. If you can't do anything else, who can? Do you know of someone else who I can ask and fix this issue?
Hey @bionicmike,
I know it's not ideal, but this is mostly something with your device, as I have tested all the files you shared with me and they all worked fine. Maybe a clean install of Windows could help.
Wish you all the best!
