My Question or Issue
Spotify still opens on startup even after removing it from startup in taskmanager, startup in Spotify settings as well. I've tried uninstalling deleting temp files,re-installing I feel like I've tried everything with no luck.
The reason I'm doing this is Spotify ALWAYS has issues opening my search/your library never opens and just spins forever. It started recently and then I have to close it and can't reopen because it says there was a problem opening the application so I have to go to task manager and end all the processes there which is super annoying.

Hey @manuuuu,
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.
You mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one? Make sure to download the app again from the Microsoft Store.
Additionally, could you let us know if you've tried these specific steps?:
After these steps, make sure to log out and then log back in again.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Yup I did a clean reinstall by deleting appdata files as well, I set it back to NO once I reinstalled as well as on the windows side where you can set startup apps.
Hi @manuuuu,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Just to confirm, are you still experiencing this issue?
If so, we suggest that you try heading to the app's Settings and toggle the option Show Local Files on > toggle off all the sources that appear there > toggle Show Local Files back off > restart de app.
Also, we suggest that you try toggling off Enable hardware acceleration and restart the app again.
Keep us posted.
i just tried everything you said (clean reinstall, checking the "no" box again, then i tried the local files stuff, and hardware acceleration was already checked on for me) and still have this issue. it's been going on for years. its insane to me that this hasnt been fixed and there seem to be tons of complaints about it across the internet
Hey @stephenfeigenbaum,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.
As you confirm that the option on the Spotify app is toggled off, if the app starts when turning on the PC, it could be related to the startup process of your PC. We know you already checked this from the task manager, but there's a different process to make sure that Spotify is not on the startup apps.
To do so, Go to Settings > Apps and select Startup in the left-panel. Scroll down until you find the Spotify app and turn the option off. After this, restart your PC to make sure it's not starting up.
If the issue persists, could you record a short video where we can take a better look at the issue with the option toggled off? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
We'll be on the lookout.
