Spotify using imense amount of bandwidth even when playing a downloaded playlist

My Question or Issue

Eveyrtime i try to use spotify whilst gaming it uses an immense amount of bandwidth, so much so that it overloads my wifi extender. No matter if im listening on max quality or a downloaded playlist, the result is the same and immediate upon opening spotify. How can i fix this, its a problem that only recently poped up.
