Spotify (windows desktop): new version has window animation that won't turn off.

Solved!

Spotify (windows desktop): new version has window animation that won't turn off.

My [Windows Desktop] Spotify updated the other day, now version 1.0.66.478.g1296534d.

Now the main window has some sort of background animation that prevents me from reading anything on the window. It is really irritating because I like to keep it up to view the song/artist from time to time. I can't find a setting to turn this feature off.

It almost looks like a screensaver that only goes over the spotify window. It kinda looks like a concert (at least I think that's the intent).

See screenshot attached.

Can someone please explain a way to disable this?

Hey @user-removed

As far as I know it's a special effect for the Stranger Things soundtracks... Didn't know about the Halloween Special playlist, though.

I don't know how long this persists, because it's a sort of a surprise egg Spotify created very very quietly. 🙂

Majority of content won't have this effect, though.

Weird....no update, but it seems to have stopped on its own. I did change albums....maybe it was something special on the one I had going (as it was a Halloween special).

Thanks @sebasty,

Stranger Things soundtrack was what I was listening to. It came up as a suggested listen on Halloween day. As soon as I switched off that to something else it went away.

I never thought the effect would be for one specific album/playlist. I found it kind of annoying because I couldn't glance over (like I usually do) to see the song/artist playing.

However, I switched off and it's back to normal, so no worries. All is fine now. Thanks for your reply.

As far as I know, this effect goes away when you move the cursor, about 10 seconds later it returns again.

I adore this effect, but it might be a little tedious since it's illuminates only a portion of the screen when it's on. 🙂
