Spotify won't play most songs

I'm using the desktop app, not the Windows 10 store version. Some songs/albums work as they should when I play them, but most of the time when I try to play a song it won't even begin. The scroll wheel remains at 0 and there isn't even an album cover in the bottom left corner. I'm not sure if it's on my end. I've done a clean reinstall and restarted my computer a few times now.
