Spotify has changed the order of the context menu. Now Add to Playlist is on top instead of Add to Queue. They should revert this change and put Add to Queue back on top, or make the context menu customizable so that each user can fix it to their preference.
I use the Add to Queue-function when using Spotify a lot. I use this when listening to my playlists, exploring new music, or when I'm setting up a party queue. I do this more often than I add songs to playlists. The UI change has given me a negative user experience.
Operating System
Windows 11/macOS
My Question or Issue
'Remove from playlist' menu item is now just next to 'Add to queue'. Because of this I often delete tracks from Liked Songs by accident, when tried to add them to the queue. I even once had to ask the support to restore my playlist, because I couldn't remember what I deleted. Is it possible to do something about this? I didn't have this issue before, I think it's related to recent redesign. Now using the add to queue function is stressful, and I lose the original date when the song was added, it's very important to me.
believe us spotify, this is not the users being cranky about change. add to queue is really useful when is the first option and just because the add to playlist option is now the first one it wont increase whatever metric this aims to affect. it just annoys users for the sake of a fake engagement metric
Yes, please revert this change. This is terrible UX and ruins the muscle memory that everyone who uses the queue system has built up over multiple years. How this was not considered as part of this change is baffling for a company of this size.
I also have found this so ridiculous over the past few weeks when using the mac version to queue songs, as opposed to the swipe right on an item on the mobile version.
Of course I've kind of gotten used to it now but it was a default behaviour that I learnt, right click, top item, add to queue.
I am a dev so really would not mind putting some hours towards an OSS vibe of fixing something that everyone uses on a daily basis.
An option to customise would be way more beneficial with the A/B testing, please do get back to me about how we will tackle this going forward, thanks, Daniel
This is killing me and I hate it, change it back Spotify!!!!
agreed new order sucks. They should at least let us reorder things as we want.
Honestly there should be a dedicated button for queue-ing
Queue is spontaneous, playlists are not something I always interface with. Queue is used way more
I just realised that when you select one song, the order is [ Add to playlist -> Save -> Add to queue ]
Whereas when you have multiple songs selected it goes [ Add to queue -> Save -> Add to playlist ]
What is this madness @spotify???
Did your developers forget to switch the order on multi tracks or just trolling? 🤣
also what is up with the menu items order? selecting multiple songs the order is ok, but right clicking one song and it is reordered. it changed recently and made adding a song to the queue more frustrating
its actually just in a different place for every possible scenario its so poorly designed, very upset nothing has been changed still
Could you at least make the context menus "static" and not re-order the whole menu half a split-second before I click something in it?
Reminds me of this classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA-9Rm4HygM
Over one year passed from original message and I can see nothing has changed...
Still on Spotify for macOS (Intel) 1.2.44.405.g81fd6352 I get add to playlist first. It's really annoying and bad design.
Please make it customizable! Adding to queue should be quick action, like on iOS app - swipe to add to queue, I'm loving this feature, it should be this simple also on desktop app.
