There is no sound coming from the spotify app on windows

Things I have tried

-Unplugging my headphones

-turning up and down the volume

-checked drivers

-turned on crossfade

-turned off crossfade

-turned volume to loud

-turned volume to quiet

-turned volume to normal

-restart spotify

-restart computer

-uninstall spotify and reinstall

-change device in app

-checked mixer in windows (which shows no sound even thought the player is all the way up.

My windows sounds work and web player works.

I have no idea what to do.

There are a few things you can try to get the sound work again. One is ensuring Spotify uses the correct device in Windows Sound settings, the other is a little method with muting.

Check if Spotify uses what you wish to use for audio playback:

1. Right-click on speaker icon on Taskbar's notification area, select "Open Sound Settings"

2. In Sound Settings scroll down to "Other sound options" and click on "App Volume And Device Preferences"

3. At the top you'll find general system-wide settings, below you find dedicated settings for each open app. You'll need to have Spotify open to see it there.

Try this method:
1. click on speaker icon on taskbar
2. open the sound mixer. The idea is there is a system-wide volume slider, but there is also an option to see volume sliders for all open apps.
3. Find Spotify, mute it. Then unmute it.
4. Restart Spotify.
