Hey there,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
The issue you mentioned about being unable to log in to the desktop app is commonly related to some damaged cache stored on your PC. We understand you've already tried some troubleshooting steps including reinstalling, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article? We'd recommend this process as it will replace damaged files and ensure you're running the latest version of the app.
It would also be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists. This will help us understand if it could be account-related or not.
Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout.
I have the same issue
The same thing happens to me, only that it asks me to log in from the browser and it starts repeating in a loop that I should start from the browser and I reinstalled the app just as an assistant said but it still doesn't work, and my PC is not the problem because It's not bad and much less the account works on all my devices except my PC. :c
I have the same problem. Started when I got a new PC, Lenovo P1G5. Tried all of the above, and then some.
Hey folks,
Thanks for the reports!
Would you mind letting us know exactly which troubleshooting steps you've gone through? If you haven't already, you can try reinstalling the app in Safe Mode to see if that makes any difference.
In case it doesn't, make sure to send over the model, along with the OS version and the Spotify version of the affected device.
Keep us posted!
Hi.I’m experiencing the same issue. I’m using a company computer, and while I can log in and use my Spotify account normally on the web, I can’t log in through the desktop app. Additionally, I can’t download the app from the Microsoft Store due to security restrictions set by my company. I downloaded the app directly from Spotify, but the issue persists. My setup is Windows 11 on a Lenovo T14 G2
I've just fully re-installed windows 11 and the first thing i try is to download Spotify to listen to music as i install everything else.
But of course this happens, please Spotify, make it so we can log in without a browser. PLEASE.
Hello there,
Fresh Windows 11 installation, installed Spotify client from the spotify website.
Opening the desktop app asks me to authentify on the web browser. The web browser tells me everything is ok and I can see my profile on the webpage. When I go back to spotify, keeps asking me to login, and so on with no resolution.
Is it a new issue, I can see several people having the same issue the past days.
Hi @boolbool,
Thank for the reply.
The web player and login within the browser all work on your end, is that correct? Can you let us know on which version exactly the Desktop app is? And if you uninstall and reinstall one more time, does the issue persist?
Let us know how it goes.
All good! Someone's been at work. I needed to log in like 10 times via the browser, but all af a sudden I'm in. Thanks!
Hi, how did you fix the problem? I have the same issue (when i wanna login spotify on desktop i get an error, says: service is temporarily unavailable, please try again later (error code: auth:1))
Hey there,
Thanks for joining the conversation!
@SinaRe - Just to confirm, have you tried the steps mentioned by @Oscar_DC earlier in the thread? If so, and this behavior persists, could you try changing the default browser that is set on your computer to see if you notice any difference? You can check the steps on how to change it on this page.
Shouldn't that do the trick, it would be great if you could send us the info requested by @Novy, so that we can look into these login issues further.
Let us know how you get on!
Didn't really do anything, it just worked all of a sudden.
Hello there,
I just tested now and I confirm what the other said, it works !
Thanks,
Bye
I have the same issue
Same problem
Same
I can confirm that this issue can be resolved with MULTIPLE retries.
For me, when I try to connect through the web, everything seems to be okay but nothing happens on the app side and when I click on retry, after authenticating in the web browser, the app shows a "Please try again later (Error code: auth1)".
However, after around 20 retries, it simply worked. The key is really to not get bored from retrying.
As to why this issue is happening, I think it could be related to the VPN installed on the company laptop (for me it's Zscaler). If anybody is facing this issue, try disconnecting the VPN, retrying the login MULTIPLE times and once logged in you can re-enable it.
