On 8/18/2023, I downloaded the Windows Spotify app ("SpotifySetup.exe").

VirusTotal said "SpotifySetup.exe" had 3 viruses.

Unclear if I should risk infecting my Windows 11 and 10 PCs without an "official" statement from Spotify that it knows it is safe.

With so many millions of Spotify users, you would think Spotify would correct this situation.

First of all, the Spotify for Windows app is safe to use, when downloaded through the official website or the Microsoft Store.

Any other websites, torrents, or mirror links offering free Spotify Premium or older versions of the app might be containing viruses, especially when not downloaded through the official channels.

It is common for VirusTotal or for antivirus software to detect false positives sometimes. Nevertheless, this will be reported to the right folks at Spotify.
