Was "create similar playlist" removed?

I've been using the "create similar playlist" function as a way to discover new music and its been such a great tool, much more effective than simply going to a song radio. I've only been able to use this function on my desktop but now can't even seem to do that on there now. Was this function completely removed? If so, that's a huge bummer.

Both my friend and I contacted Spotify support 2 days ago about the missing Create Similar Playlist feature cause of how crucial it is to have we use Spotify. We were both told that it was purposely removed, and my friend was told it was supposed to be replaced by the Smart Shuffle feature.

This was the best method of finding actually new music and ofc they removed it.
Daily mix, smart shuffle and that horrible AI DJ just shove the same 15 songs in your face that they have been forever.

(I swear my daily mixes are the same as 3 years ago)
Create similar felt like a cheat code how good it was, I would take around half the songs in the playlist, add them back into the original and repeat.

The removal of create similar and the race to design the worst possible desktop UI really has me questioning where my $10 a month is going to (and we all know its not the artists)
Hope someone at Spotify wakes up soon and restores this feature and reverts the last 30 desktop app changes.

Agreed!!! This is super disappointing. Also, the recommended songs have been extremely redundant lately too. Losing the ‘create similar playlist’ feature in addition to being suggested tracks no more diverse than the same album I’m already playing is an L. Especially with the rise of AI- not sure why options are being limited.

I still love Spotify and I'm not gonna quit over this... But please bring the feature back. It was much more convenient than Smart Shuffle or the suggestions below the playlist, even if the algorithm is presumably the same

"Create similar playlist" was honestly one of the BEST ways for discovering new music on Spotify.

Yes, you can use the Daily Mixes or similar - but nothing gives you the same control as having a playlist you like, clicking it, and making a similar playlist with new & different songs to listen to.

Wow so it's not just me... I honestly started to question myself for not being able to figure out where and under what name Spotify moved this feature to this time, but now they actually removed it, unbelievable 😞

One of the main advantages of your service used to be decent tools for discovering new music and managing different queues of tracks & artists I would like to explore now, or later. If the discovery features are reduced to just a button 'play random stuff our AI thinks matches your listening patterns' then there are at least 4 alternative services that at least match (and in other aspects surpass) what Spotify has to offer. Do you people at Spotify still even understand why your paying customers use your service??

This is after taking away other normal features. Oh, my God, that's awful. It's so awful that I'm seriously considering another service. I've never missed playlist radio so much. It was a pain, but I tried to replace it with Similar Playlists. But that's beyond all decency. IT'S DISGUSTING. I SEE WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO DO. YOU THINK I'M TOO COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR SERVICE. IT'S NOT A CHEAP SERVICE!

Found a great solution Chosic that does the exact same thing as "Create a similar playlist", it's just a separate website where you can input any playlist url from Spotify and generates one right into your Spotify, 

Hopes this helps those that are missing the old feature!

Same here. It was my favourtie function, but it sadly disappeared a while ago.
I've added a screenshot of my 'right click menu'
For me this was the best way to find new music.
The created listst offered way better recommendations then the 'suggested for you' list.

The feature has definitely been removed and it is very unfortunate. The Smart Shuffle and Radio functions are nowhere near the same or offer the same value as the Create Similar Playlist option.

I have used Spotify solely for this feature. I love discovering new artists. I don't know if I will continue with the premium subscription without this feature. Do competitors have a similar feature. I am considering transferring my subscription to another service.

Thank you very much. It doesn't work as well as it did in Spotify, but it's something at least. It's sad we have to use roundabouts.

Oh!!!  I just searched for 'Spotify create playlist missing' and landed here.

This is a catasrophe.  This was the MAIN and MOST IMPORTANT discovery tool that I use.  

Folks.  Ya gotta put this one back.  It was seriously the most frictionless, and smart, and adaptive, and highly functional tool for discovery.  Having to do several more clicks into the queue after selecting 'Smart shuffle' - and then that queue not being persistent - is just an awful subsititue. 

Folks.  This has gotta go back.  This is going to degrade my user experience of discovery immeasurably!!!

Beforehand, we had this awesome feature that let us discover playlists that were HANDPICKED by other users called create simliar playlists.

And now spotify forces us to use the SpEcIaL sHufFlE feature instead, which is already a worsening "shuffle" experience?

We can't even choose to disable the SpEcIaL sHufFlE feature.

GIVE US THE GOOD STUFF BACK!
