My Question or Issue

According to the site (https://support.spotify.com/us/article/high-quality-streaming/) the Premium Desktop audio quality is 320 kbit Ogg Vorbis mp3 and the Premium Web Player quality is 256 AAC. Now, AAC is arguably better quality (despite being 256 kbit) than Ogg Vorbis (320kbit). In fact, 256 AAC is exactly what Apple Music is using.

Does this mean that the Web Player might actually offer better audio quality?

Hey @user-removed

I don't know the technical details on the formats used, but I don't really hear any difference between the desktop client and web player. I do have good quality gear.

(ogg vorbis =/= mp3)

To answer honestly - it's possible there might be differences since the used formats are different. Whether you actually hear these differences is another topic. 🙂

Have a lovely day!
