My Question or Issue
I use Headset and Monitor speakers to listen to music. When i work or just being unproductive i play Spotify through Monitor speakers. But when i want to game i switch output to Headset ( Razer Kraken ) the music keeps playing through monitor. The only fix is to force quit Spotify app and run it again
I have the same issue, this never used to happen till a few months ago after an update.
Now I need to exit the app and restart it. I hope they can fix this since spotify used to never have this.
Hey folks,
Welcome to the Spotify Community and sorry for the late response as we just came across this thread.
Since this issue could have started after and update, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful to get rid of any corrupted files from previous updates that might be causing issues.
Also, after changing the audio source, it's recommended to close the app and open it up again for changes to apply. Let us know if after rebooting the app, it still don't recognize the new audio output.
Lastly, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running. This will give us a better look to keep investigating this issue.
We'll be on the lookout.
This is still a very annoying issue on windows, still there in the latest version, Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.49.439.gfae492c7.
To reproduce, connect a new audio device that windows will automatically prioritize. Every software starts to use the new device, but Spotify does not sound, until it's closed and reopened.
Hey there @Jixbo,
Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.
Just to confirm, have you tried following the steps @OscarDC sent previously?
If so and they didn't do the trick, could you let us know if this happens every time you connect the device or only for the first time? Also, does the same happen with any new audio device you connect?
On another note, we'd recommend checking if the OS of your device has any pending updates.
Keep us in the loop.
Hello,
Yes, it still happens after a clean reinstall. It happens 100% of the times I turn on my usb audio interface, a rode procaster II.
Hey @Jixbo,
Thank you for keeping in contact.
We appreciate your report and all the info you've included on your thread. We've passed this info internally since we're not able to reproduce the same behavior from our end. At the moment, we don't have a specific date for this to be resolved, but we hope it will be as soon as possible.
We'd also recommend keeping your Spotify app updated, so you don't miss any improvements coming your way.
If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.
