My Question or Issue

Hey,

I navigated to the "Sponsored by" view and found out that this view does not seem to be ready to show to a user. The icons are missing and the buttons show the text "test button message n" (n = zerobased index) and the taglines "test tagline n". Also there are example sponsors "Test Advertiser #6" displayed.

I found this to appear for "Podcasts - der Podcast", but all sponsored Podcasts I found were affected.

Thanks,

Ela

Seeing this as well. Clicked on the "Sponsored by" button to the right of a podcast on desktop. See attached.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

Could you let us know if this is happening with any podcast or just some in particular? Additionally, can you send us the link/URI of one of them so we can take a closer look?

We'll be on the lookout.

Found it as well

Here's a link: https://open.spotify.com/show/5vPg9kNdtiKdsjAaox2jOC?si=c4ee0af93aa24b39

I guess someone pushed Test Components to Production 🙂

Hi there @DavidTimbwa,

Thanks for reaching out and for the link.

We tried to test it but the 'Sponsored by' button isn't showing on our end. Could you send us a video or screen recording where we can see the steps to reproduce this behavior?

We'd also like to know the OS version of the device where this is happening, along with the Spotify version you're running, and if it's happening on any other devices.

Keep us posted.

Hi @CarlosE
I already added info about the OS and client version in the main thread.
Device: Laptop (Spotify for Windows 1.1.73.517.gbef50fdb)
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro (Version 1909)
For me the Sponsored by view and link are now removed. I guess someone fixed this? 🙂

Cheers,
Ela

Hey there folks,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop here.

@kroebi to be honest we're not sure what happened there but we're happy to hear that the issue has been resolved for you now 🙂

Could we kindly ask you folks @DavidTimbwa and @AsherW to confirm if this has been also resolved for you, or you still see these buttons? If yes, then please come back with more info about your devices and Spotify versions, as well as with some screen recordings and links to the exact show episodes where this occurs.

Let us know how things work out, we'll be keeping an eye out for your reply.

Hey there Spotify team,

I am sorry that I have to reopen this issue again, but I just found the exact same problem is still present on my Ubuntu machine. I guess the patch that fixed it was potentially not rolled out to Linux distributions. It might be that my local Spotify version is just not up to date but it might be worth it for your developers to check whether they might have missed to roll this patch out to all distributions.

Hi there @Jackahl,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community!

Did you manage to run an update for your Spotify app and are you still experiencing this issue now? If yes, since you didn't mention what's the current version of Spotify you have on, could we ask you for that additional info. Couple of screenshots, or a short video recording of the issue as seen on your end will also be of value for our further investigation of this situation.

Keep us in the loop, we'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Just to make the moderation team aware, this issue is still present in the stable snap install for Spotify. But TIL snap has beta branches; changing to that and the Sponsored by box has disappeared. Turns out that last part wasn't true, the issue is still there but it disappeared because during the update my spotify scaling changed and it hid that sponsors page

@Jackahl what version of Spotify are you running?

spotify 1.1.72.439.gc253025e installed via snap.
snap info says latest update is from 2021-11-12.

Hey @Jackahl,

Thanks for the info.

We've passed it on to the right team.

Pease keep in mind that we don't officially support Linux, so releases and updates are done on a volunteer bases among the team, thus we can't provide a timeline for a fix, but we have put it on the radar.
