Win 11/Spotify does not load local files in Dropbox folder

Win 11/Spotify does not load local files in Dropbox folder

Hi,

I tried various ways to load local files into my Win 11 Spotify desktop.

I recently migrated to Win11.

I have a dedicated 2TB Dropbox SSD in which I have also stored my local music files

I tried removing the local-files.bnk like suggested but no success.

Only when I copied the files to another SSD (out of dropbox) the local files were properly loading. I now have a copy of my local file repository.

Does anybody know why it wont allow me to add SSD1/dropbox/mymusic to Spotify whereas I can simply load SSD2/mymusiccopy?

Hi @Bazinga33,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

Currently, it's not possible to synchronize files that are stored on the cloud. This was requested before in this idea, but it was decided that we don't have any plans to implement this feature in the near future.

We're always trying to include more and more features to improve the overall Spotify experience, so if something isn't available right now, it might be in the future.

It is just a folder like any other folder. I do not expect to stream from my online files. Are you saying you are blocking any folder with in a path that contains */Dropbox/* ?

Hey @Bazinga33,

Thanks for your reply.

If I understood you correctly, the folder is simply a common folder, located on your PC. In that case, you can the following:

  1. Go to the Spotify folder, which should be located here: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Spotify.
  2. There you should find a folder named Users. Open it and delete all folders inside it to remove all saved data and preferences for all accounts you've logged in to.
  3. Restart the Spotify app and add the directory for your Local Files again.

Keep us posted on this.

Cheers!
