song won't play unless in playlist

My Question or Issue

When I try to play a song after searching, it won't play unless I first move it to a playlist.  This just started a couple of months ago.

This was an Ongoing Issue that affected many Spotify users. It has since been fixed.

Please update your Spotify client by following this guide. The newest version is 1.2.9.743.g85d9593d.

Depending on where you downloaded Spotify, you may need to update your app from the Windows Store.
