The last few days, I've been having an issue. An ad will always play before the last song on whichever album I'm listening to. After the ad, Spotify will not play the last song. It will not play anything, but will be set up to start the album over if I click Play.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Why is it after all this time, this problem still persists? It now applies to albums as well as playlists. The last song simply never (or very rarely) gets played after an ad.

No. The highlighted track is the first track of the playlist.
You can see that the last track is queued, but the history shows that it ignores it, and jumps back to the start of the playlist.

As volstag indicated, the highlighted track is the first song. The play queue had already reset itself. You can see in the history that the last song got skipped after the ad got inserted.
This may help show the sequence of events. I anticipated the last song being skipped so I took screenshots before, during, and after.
Before the ad, the last song on the album ("Heartbreak Hotel") is in the play queue.
During the ad, the last song is still in the play queue.
After the ad, the play queue resets to the first song on the album. You can see in the history that the last song did not get played even though it had been in the queue.
Hope that helps.
Description
If I play an album or a playlist (created from an album) and one of the random playing ads falls directly before the last song, spotify stops playing after the ad finishes and doesn't play the last song. It also selects the first song again - like it happens after you actually played the last song in a list.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
1. Play second to last song on album and wait for it to finish
2. Random ad plays - if it doesn't, the problem will not show up.
What I expected to happen
Last song of album should play after the ad.
What actually happened
spotify stops, selecting first song in list as if it actually played and finished the last song.

I have an issue with the last album track not playing whenever an ad is played just after the next to last track. Don't mind listening to ads while streaming albums, but thought you might like to know about this bug. It happens all the time.

Happened again.
- My play queue is full with all the albums songs. This is expected - when the last song of a list is played, the queue gets filled up again, so pressing the play button plays the full list again.
- The history looks like this (12 song album);
Song 1 (selected)
Spotify - Spotify 0:19
Better Sound Premium Free Trial - Spotify 0:20
Song 11
Song 10
Song 9
...
Again, the song 1 there at the top is expected as the first entry is reserved for the song currently playing or selected to play and is replaced every time you skip songs - you only get a new entry if you let a song play to the end and a natural transition to the next song happens.
Something that is strange are the two spotify ads in there. I didn't pay attention while the bug was actually happening, just noticed it when the music stopped, so I don't know if it really played two ads.
-
Just speculating here, but depending on how the system is handling inserted ads, it could be that the second ad is mistaken for the last song. If that's the case, the bug could be bigger than initially thought and it could be that this bug can also skip songs in the middle of a playlist and you just don't notice it as easily, because it plays A song.
I tried to check for skipped songs in my older history, but it seems ads get removed from the history after a while, so I don't know where ads played before. I found a section in my history with an album with two unplayed last songs, but that was quite a while ago and I can't be sure I didn't skip them myself - even if that would be very unlikely.

Spotify won't play the last track in a playlist if that last track follows an ad.
This is a known issue which has been reported internally, just not fixed yet.
Appreciate it is super annoying!

I'm having the same exact issue listed above.
Version 0.9.11.27.g2b1a638c
Windows 8.1
I started this post about a year ago. The issue got resolved at some point, but now it's happening again, just the same as before. When an ad plays before the last song of an album, the last song won't play after the ad. The album will be ready to be started at the beginning again.
