There should be no malware that comes with the official Spotify installer. Any third party installers might have some adware. I own a MacBook Air, and have no adware on it whatsoever. It probably came from somewhere else. Hope this helps!

Then you are blind or willfully ignorant:

I think it's coming through the ads. I'm having the same problem, started today and I've been using spotify for at least 5 months.

Please don't call me that. But as the other fellow said before, it might be from the ads, but those shouldn't pop up when Spotify isn't running. Hope this helps!

I have been having the same problem today with my default browser and only happens when spotify is on. I believe it is one of their ads and need to fix this and I found this has happened before.

I'm experiencing the same problem on a PC.  This seems to be a known spotify issue according to all the research I did.  The only solution I have found is to uninstall spotify and to stop using their service.  I contacted support and was basically ignored as their referred me to their support pages.  Nice going Spotify!

Hi there,

Thanks for reporting. I will notify the staff about these issues. I'll keep you guys updated.

Very annoying and very unprofessional

Hi, here's (1) another issue like that. I have added a md5sum for cross checking.

Perhaps it helps?

nonetheless the virus/malware issues are always worrying 😞

@jmommens:

Hey, you actually got a response?  I haven't gotten anything other than the "Thank you for reporting an issue" auto response yet.

Spotify Free on my GF computer keeps popping IE windows with adware/spamm/malware. This only happens with spotify free. Computer was recently reinstalled with windows 10 but have only, windows defender finds no threats. Seems to be injected through the ads somehow. I installed spotify myself through www.spotify.com so it was the correct installer. Im not getting the same problem on another account.

I just now reinstalled her Spotify, problem does not occur on another computer with Norton AV but on different IP so, not the same ads. Its not very likely that its a virus that only pops spam when using spotify..... really... why.

Please block popups from your ads you noobs!
