[All Platforms] Album Art for each Track in a playlist

View as Album List was a great feature. Based on comments I have seen on other forums, I am not the only one who thinks so. Please restore this feature.

Reasons:

1) Images are much easier to see than text. I have reached the age of reading glasses. Before this feature was removed, I could easily find songs / albums in playlists. Now I have to find my glasses beforehand!

2) Images are much more compelling and attractive than text. A picture tells a thousand words etc. The whole look and feel of Spotify is enhanced through the use of album images. Removing them seems like going against good user experience practice.

3) Nostalgia. Although I love Spotify and I firmly believe that subscription is the future of music, I still feel some nostalgia for "possessing" a collection of albums. Displaying album covers reinforces the feeling of having a collection of albums in a playlist.

Note that all three arguments apply equally to desktop and iPad versions of Spotify.

November 2013: Response to the comments from Spotify...

- There is no need for a cmd+G control. All playlists should always display the album cover.

- The Collections product was announced almost a year ago but there is no sign of it.

- A Collections product that simply displays the thousands of albums that I have ever listened to is not a viable solution in my opinion. I would need multiple collections (i.e.. playlists).

May-2014

I have created a new idea http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas/Display-Album-Cover-on-Your-Music-Songs/idi-p/791029 requesting cover art on your music (and playlists). Please give it your kudos.

July 2015

I note that Apple Music displays album art on playlists on all platforms.

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that this is now available on Android, iOS and Desktop.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

Comments

Yes, there is no question, seeing a thumbnail in front of the song list is obviously a good idea.

Why on earth it doesnt exist is beyond me.

Apple Music has it.

MusixMatch has it.

Spotify, make it happen! 🙂

This feature is not a "nifty trick." It is a necessity.

Its ommission is absurd.

Basic UI here.

Please reinclude it ASAP.

Thanks.

Hey Spotify fans. We're back to update this idea to 'Good Idea'. Our teams also like this idea and they're looking into it. Thanks for your feedback here, it is incredibly helpful. If we have any updates on this we'll post it here. Thanks!

There is no question of whether this is a good idea or not.

It is an imperative.

Its lack of being part of the UI is a simply a deficiency with Spotify that needs to be rectified.

Please get this working ASAP.

And while youre at it, please add a volume slider to the top level of the player interface.

Thanks!

Why can't I have my "now playing" as the main part of my spotify window? It's amature hour not being able to do it. Winamp was able to do it in 1999 and its 2016? And if I can, why is it not an option in settings, preferences or view? So far every way I would make the album art the main part of the PC spotify window it just goes "do you want a radio/playlist made from this artist?" And this has come up since almost 2012 with spotify? Why? With its connection to Last.fm which showed me album art, artists pics and even the music video why can't I just have "Now Playing" then big old picuture of the album art and the title of whos playing like the stupid mobile app can?

Come on !!!! 3 years after, we still don't have this BASIC feature. We don't care to share music on facebook (and I want to preserve my privacy by default also) and these kinds of gadgets, we first need a simple way to manage our music and playlists !!! I really think about stopping my premium account for google because of that.

Exactly!

Come on Spotify!

Change the interface!

Would it be worth downgrading to a version that had this in the meantime? Does anyone know what version had this album view feature for playlists?

When will this be available?

Please, Spotify! This basic feature is so important to the way that I listen to and organise my music. As others have pointed out, this isn't a feature request, it's a complaint that basic functionality—present in every other music application I've ever used—is missing from Spotify for absolutely no reason.

Just fix it!
