[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I just can't wait any longer. I am moving my family subscription to Apple Music and I am also recommending all of my friends move as well. Spotify has had plenty of time to fix this and chooses not to implement it. Good luck to everyone.

So... lots of talk... but nothing has happened... or will happen... I wonder if Google or Apple play services have this feature...

bryanisverbal
The Google & Apple Services do offer this which is why everyone is moving to those services.

Please implement this option! looking for "workout" playlist for my youth team - but I can't use any of the "current" playlists that they would enjoy becuase of the few explicit songs.  Ready to swtich to another music provider if not fixed soon.

There are now 110 pages of comments for this idea.  This is an absolute no-brainer.  If you cared at all about your client base you will add this.  If this isn't in the works implemented by the end of '15 i'm out.  It's been far too long.  There is no need to consider, just get it done.

Don't hold your breath. Leave now and come back if the implement it. Why wait. They will never do it.

I'm also on the verge of leaving just because of this.  It breaks my heart because Spotify is the the best service I've used and I've been a member with Premium for about 4 years but my kids safety is more important.  They are now at an age where they are into music and some of the filth that comes on is unnacceptable.  I might sign up again if they enable this simple feature.

Update: I have cancelled.  Apple Music, here I come.  Hoping the UI in IOS 9 is significantly better though!  Sad to leave Spotify but I'm passionate about child safely online and with media and until Spotify take this important topic seriously, I have to vote with my money and go elsewhere.

I plan on getting Apple music when it comes to Android. I hate Apple, but
I'll give them my money instead of Spotify.
