[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Both Apple Music and google music offer an option to turn off songs with
explicit content. At this point I'm using Apple Music with their 14.95
plan, but will go to google music as soon as they start offering their
$14.95 plan

It has been over 3 and a half years since this thread started, not to mention the hundereds of other threads out there both on the Spotify forums and other forums regarding Spotify. I and I think I can speak for others here to would like this idea implemented very soon. At the very least, we would like a well written reason of why it is still under consideration after so much of the community supporting the idea.

I have searched Google for work arounds to listening to these explicit songs and I had found a couple, including Bleep, which have tried repeatedly to be included into the Spotify Store but have been rejected. Due to licencing, I can't even download the app for myself unless I register for a developer licence and manually take their code and package it myself. Why can't Spotify at least let other developers to program their own app without explicit songs and release it to the Spotify Store? Its not like Spotify is losing anything.

I currently use spotify at work to play music for my customers and everyone loves the great variety from your user generated playlists and spotify radio options, however every so often when i'm working i hear an F Bomb dropped or some other profanity and I have to sprint to the computer to skip the song as to not offend any of my patrons. Saying all that, I completely back the inclusion of a censorship button as it would save me when we get busy and make the whole listening experience much nicer. Thank for considering our ideas

I really wanted to love this app, but until this option is available I will need to use google play music which has that option.

A Spotify subscriber since 2009, I'm now quitting over the lack of an explicit filter needed for family use. It's a deal breaker so I'm off to Apple.  So long Spotify. Yay, Go Apple.

So, you lost me and my premium subscription over this. My kids are setting up extensive playlists elsewhere so you have probably lost them. When anybody asks about streaming services I mention this exact topic and your refusal to implement it. I recommend Google because their software integrates streaming and an existing library better than Apple. Honestly, what is the problem??!? I have gone from being very pro-Spotify to deleting the app from my devices.

How is this STILL not resolved...I rarely use spotify at home anymore due to this terrible lack of feature. Please resolve. This should be a VERY simple fix. For my kids sake I will not be paying for any subscription services.

It's a ridiculous omission considering how many of your subscribers have households with children. Moving to Apple Radio until this is resolved.

We need an Explict switch ! Just like Pandora, where we can play clean versions of our Favorite songs and not skip them ! This way we can stiil enjoy the music we love anywhere, even in a professional setting.

This Thread was started in 2012 why hasnt this been implemented already, at home im fine with what ever songs come up and love the variety but when at work or around kids this makes me close spotify and use other programs with this feature.
