[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Yes please! This would make the new Family Plan so very useful with kids.

Amatts

Please include the Explicit blocking feature.

Here is my logic:  I was about to sign myself and my wife up for Premium service, but on learning that this functionality isn't present as with other song streamers, I won't sign up.

Bottom line:  The bottom line.

No feature = no money from me.

Thanks!

I think this is a great idea, I have to be so careful what songs I add to my playlists as so many of the chart hits only have the explicit version which is a real shame.

The button would save me worrying about inappriopiate music being played when children are present, however I feel a better option would be to have a no explicit version available as well as the explicit version.

Please allow us to have an option to filter out songs with explicit lyrics if we want to.

Spotify for Family--awesome idea! Would let me 9yr old use the service but not if I can't restrict what he listens to.

Nothing that hasn't already been said in the past 4 years, just had to throw my hat in the ring for this feature.

Thorny

Amazing that you guys still haven't actually implemented anything yet.

This would be an incredibly valuable feature which, as others have suggested, I would be happy to pay for.

Please can someone from Product Management update us on the status of this idea which has almost 5000 votes (kudos).

Is there a reason this option hasnt even been considered? Do you have the proper developers for something like this? even if it isnt done for radio would be great for playlists. just to show you clean versions of songs.

They are here for the artists. They want to make sure no one is censoring
them and the artist true talent shines through. **bleep** that we don't want to
hear **bleep**ing curse words in the **bleep**ing lyrics. They don't give one **bleep**
about you or your wants.

Yes, please add this feature. Having a family plan is not much good, if you don't have this feature too. As soon as you put this in place, I will upgrade my account.

It looks like no responsible adult would expose their children to spotify in its current form. Smart move Spotify! Sooner or later people get sick of banging their heads against a brick wall - especially where there are perfectly good options. I am an ex Spotify fan and my head still hurts but I am now breathing the clean fresh air of apple music.
