[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

AGREE!!!! Please Spotify, come up with this feature!

Where are the previous/next page clickers in the ideas forums - needed to help follow an idea? Where is the leave kudos button for comments? Does this new pretty face hide a bit of insincerity?

This would be great. Far too often I am listening to new music or Radio mode in the car with my kids and without warning a song will come on with explicit language. An easy to reach button when I launch Spotify would be great to be able to turn or turn off filtering would be great. Love the service. Keep up the great work.

This idea says it's solved but I don't see an option on the Spotify interface to toggle explicit songs on/off...am I missing something...will this option be in the next app release?

This comment is a repeat from another thread but I feel it needs to be stated on mulitple ends!!!!  I love the fact that there are plenty of people giving me Kudos!!! I want that to continue, but I would rather hear from someone at Spotify!!!! This seems like such an easy fix (allow me to control what my children listen to if I get them on Spotify)!!!!! I wonder if the powers to be at Spotify have children? Do they let their children listen to explicit music? What kind of society are we providing for everyone's future? It's about doing the right thing and not the "cool" thing!!!!!!!!

It looks to me like the powers that be at spotify ARE the children and they are in teenage or late teenage rebellion

so now there is no way to see previous comments? Anybody else is missing the paging of the thread?

I contacted technical support with some questions about this important issue. Their response was:

"...At the moment there is no set amount of votes to implement any ideas from the community forums, however with the more popular ideas such as the Explicit track filter we are aware of this and are looking into building a new system that will also allow users to filter out explicit material or tracks that could be deemed offensive. Advertisers on Spotify will continue to be able to filter out explicit content when running campaigns.

There is no ETA of if this will be implemented, or if it will be, but if you keep an eye out for your Emails, or our blog you will be kept up to date with information and new features...."

What I take from this is that currently advertisers have the option to filter out explicit content but for some un-clear reason Spotify is reluctant to extend this feature to the public. Not sure why. But since they already have this option for advertisers, it would mean literally 2 hours of coding at most to add the feature to the app

While I don't want to get into uneducated speculations, the delay in implementing this feature makes me wonder if there is something beyond technical dificulties....

Incredible. Plenty of time to blot out the comments in  the community section but not enough to fix what we have been asking for which is someway to choose the music we want to listen to.
