[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Please, please, please add an option to filter out explicit lyrics. I get so tired of hearing the F word and the N word. It's not censorship, it's choice. Both iTunes and Google Play have this option.

Totally agree with having an option to skip songs with explicit lyrics OR have the option of listening to the radio edit instead. Sick of making excuses to the kids when they hear swear words to the point I have now cancelled my subscription.

In all seriousness, it's a good thing that Spotify hasn't implemented this function because some songs that should be marked explicit aren't so and some songs that are all well and good somehow get marked explicit. Good examples include Whiplash by Metallica and Think About You and Patience by Guns and Roses.

Interesting you have cancelled and Spotify still have realised how important this is to their customers. Both me and my wife subscribe, but will cancel if Spotify chose to ignore foul language being exposed to young ears. Did Spotify ask if you had a reason for cancelling your subscription?
nabman11

Bruh, I wasn't even subscribed in the first place because it's just not worth it. All you get is no ads and unlimited mobile skips. That's not worth paying $10 a month. Netflix is actually cheaper.

Jimmytheblade
I wanted to leave feedback of why I had cancelled but there wasn't an
option to so Spotify will never know my reasons for doing so. I just ticked
the "other reason" box hoping I could leave specific comments but couldn't.

I just can't believe that Spotify are marketing a 'family' product without this functionality. Since they are not acknowledging this thread then I always make sure that I draw their attention to this request on their social media adverts.

Is there a more effective way?

sc00terG
Might get their attention if we call up and use the language Spotify facilitate and our children can hear. F, C, N, W words!!

I only use Twitter for work & no other social media, or I would chip in.
