[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to pop on quickly and say that the email spam was not intended nor is it something Spotify approves of. A series of incidents occurred throughout the past two days that have caused numerous issues, one of which being the email spam some of you are receiving. I apologize profusely and hope this doesn't discolor your view of the Community or the Spotify team.

Sorry again for the inconvenience this has caused 😞

Please let me know if there's anything at all I can do to help you.

(Note: I am only a Community Rock Star, not a Spotify staff member.)

I just signed the petition

I did unsubscribe, but the emails keep coming. 24 solid hours of spam.  We're up to July 2015.  Not sure who clicked what button at Spotify, but it was a great way to remind us exactly how many people have been asking for this for how long.... So far I've deleted over 3,000 messages from my inbox.

hopefully people will see these  on this page and vote them, with all the emails coming from the community, its clogging up my inbox and i am just deleting them

This one to can be upvoted also

@Jacob - ofcourse you MEANT it. You are trying to get everyone off this thorny subject of the Explicit filter, which is something you have continually ignored for the last 5 YEARS. It's the most requested feature, it is NOT difficult to implement, and it gives parents and younger people a CHOICE. IT IS NOT CENCORSHIP. So whilst you might say "oops, we didn't mean it" we know exactly why you did this intentionally, in the vain attempt that people would stop subscribing to this thread and the whole problem for you would go away. Your CEO is so pathetic that he even LIES (yes, he did to me directly on email) - all I can say is that history has a funny way of treating companies like yours and it never ends well. Karma is a **bleep**.

You should all be ashamed that you and your CEO think this is an appropriate way to deal with your paying customers.

@Jacob- no problem. mistake can happen.

This is an almost essential feature. I actually assumed filtering explicit songs was already possible, only to find (as I become a parent) that it is not!
