[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Seriously - thousands of customers have requested this. With the family subscription this is a real MUST HAVE.

Spotify - any update on timing on this one?  As parents we need a way to prevent music with explicit lyrics from being included in playlists given the younger listening ears.   I know that from conversations with other families that the lack of this feature is what prevents subscriptions to what is otherwise a great service.

Please, Spotify, yes! Explicit lyrics are destroying my Spotify experience. I *want* to listen to new music and Spotify-generated playlists, but I can't do it when expletives are being dropped right and left. This can't be *that* hard -- the songs have EXPLICIT LYRICS in their own column. This thread was started FIVE years ago, in 2012 -- I'm not buying that it's that hard to give us an explicit lyrics filter. C'mon, Spotify!

I love spotify but i can't listen to it around my 2 year old because of the explict words. Right now he doesn't know that it's inappropriate to not say the F bomb. I would be nice to still enjoy my "trap music" without the fear that my kid is going to pick up obscene words b/c there is no sensor. Hope this feature is added really soon. Until then my channel is stuck on Earth Wind and Fire while the kid is in the car.

Please, please add this feature, I have two children 4 & 8 and whilst I appreciate they will hear explicit language in the street at school and around various adults, I really don't want this rammed in their ears at home.

Other companies offer it, you offer a Family Service its time you added an Explicit Content Option.

Please please PLEASE! I have a four year old and don't want to expose to bad language - it really limits what we can choose on playlists and we have Spotify on at home all the time.

Thanks heaps!

When my daughter gets back from school I am quitting Spotify and going to Apple Music.  I've already signed up for my three free months and have set all the explicit filters.  Works like a charm.  Bye bye Spotify.
