[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Just cancelled my Premium account due to their arrogance of ignoring those
of us who want to shield our kids and grandkids from the filth that is
popping up in so called "music". Joined Pandora- not as good but at least
they have provided a "filter explicit" option. All these comments are
getting people nowhere- you must vote with your money. If 10,000 people
cancelled all of a sudden and commented at the bottom of the exit survey
that they were tired of listening to vulgar language in the playlist, I bet
things would change.

But...but...artistic freedom! It has nothing to do with this request being really, really hard guys!!

-Spotify, probably

No progress in over a year, 10,000+ users think this is a good idea.  Perhaps you could communicate the issues you are having making this a reality?  Otherwise we might start to think you aren't even trying.

Not sure if someone already said this in a comment, but I would just add that the explicit filtering button should apply to ads as well.  (ex.  I hope it would filter the couple making out ad that I was subjected to today.)

Yep, agree with you all. Looks like I'm gonna cancel and go with Apple Music. I'm a teacher and use it in class sometimes, let kids who are working well request songs and defer to charts otherwise, plus I have a 5 year old with her own tablet coming for Christmas.

Apple Music seems inferior in every other way but catch ya later Spotify.

Until people start voting with their money and cancelling, they have no
incentive to fix the situation.

Loving Pandora more and more!

Not only am I not subscribing, I am now unsubscribing to this thread which means to Spotify I’ll never come back! (Unless there is some worldwide campaign and advertising that they added explicit filters cause the UI is very cool and Pandora shut down in Australia) off to go set up my new music library with Apple Music I guess!!

I can't even see comments past the ~360th page. 10,000 people want to filter explicit songs for themselves or their family. What's taking so long Spotify?

Hard to encourage Spotify as a parent without this option.... everyone else has the ability to block explicit songs... I'll just have my boys stick with iTunes for now, I guess...I have more off-hands control of what they're listening to...
