[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Status: implemented

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.
 
We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such. 

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

For the love this should not be difficult to add. Tired of my kids accidentally getting exposed to swear words.

I think it would be way better if the button played the non-explicit version of the song rather than exclude the song entirely from the playlist. There are some great songs that have explicit lyrics so to have them disappear entirely is a shame, much better to sub in the clean version.

Sincerely, a very disappointed software engineer, audio engineer, music enthusiast, and long-time subscriber. Thanks for keeping your PAYING customers in mind when implementing some stupid feature like Stranger Things mode, over this.

There should be no reason to not offer parental control to Spotify. Makes me seriously doubt a premium account.

Sometimes I want to shuffle all my songs without the fear of an explicit track playing in front of my family.

It can't be that hard Spotify, get off your **bleep** and make this happen.

I've noticed that not all songs with explicit lyrics are actually tagged. Perhaps this is the reason why they don't introduce the functionality. They don't want responsibility for any slips when the system is supposed to skip a bad song.
