[All Platforms][Your Library] Increase maximum Songs allowed in Your Music

I feel like the maximum amount of songs allowed in one playlist, and subsequently in "Songs" playlist under the new "Collections" feature, should be more than 10,000.

Quite frankly it should be unlimited.

We are paying for a service but limited on how many songs we are able to save? That is absurd to me.

I recently started saving all of my albums into "Collections" and got stuck at about 1/4 of the way through - 10,000 songs has been reached and I am no longer able to save any more albums.

PLEASE INCREASE MAX NUMBER OF SONGS IN COLLECTION FEATURE!!!

WHAT IS A COLLECTION IF YOU HAVE TO LIMIT YOUR TASTE???

Updated on 2020-05-26

Hey,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange.

We're excited to be marking this idea as implemented!
We've now removed the limit on saved items in Your Library, making it possible to save songs, and albums on Spotify to your heart's content.

As the app has changed quite a bit since this idea was submitted, please be aware that some functionality is now different. This change does not impact the limit on the number of songs in a playlist other than your Liked Songs.

For more info, check out this blog post.

It's stunning how painfully long that took to be implemented. Listen to your users better please!

This is great! I've started using FreeYourMusic to transfer all my songs from Apple Music in case I want to try Spotify again.

Not to be a downer, but it seems like they've removed features that made the library useful. Didn't there used to be a way to organize "liked songs" by album, artists, date added, etc.? Right now in the desktop app I'm only seeing liked songs as one giant playlist, which isn't very useful. Albums and artists are separate lists where you explicitly like the album or artist instead of a song. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Apple Music now, which has lots of organization options, making this update a case of too little too late on Spotify's part.

@phronk what do you mean?

I still have that functionality.

I can view the songs I liked by going into a specific artist in the "Artists" tab. Everything is there.

And if i go into "Liked songs" I can sort that list by Title, Artist, Album or date added.

Not sure what got you're claiming got removed?

Same with me. I also have all that functionality. 🤔

I also tried adding all of the songs from a playlist with 10k songs and it works! Now I have more than 10k songs in my favorites and are able to add more songs without error message in Windows and iOS. Great! 👍

Well done Spotify and thank you. It would have been great to have actioned this years ago but better late than never.

Maybe I didn't explain myself well.

My library is entirely made up of individual liked songs, because it never used to be possible to like an artist or album separately from the songs belonging to them.

It would be nice to browse a list of artists, or a list of albums—not a list of all 10,000+ songs.

In Apple Music, I can click Artists or Albums and see a list of any artists or albums with any songs that are in my library. I thought that's how Spotify used to work a few years ago, but I could be misremembering it. In any case, that would be nice. It's kind of hard to browse a raw list of thousands of songs.

As I'm seeing it now, when I click Artists or Albums, I only see a handful of them despite 10,000+ songs in my Liked Songs list. It's only showing artists or albums I clicked the heart beside, not every artist or album with a song I've liked.

@phronk

Some month ago Spotify changed the behavior of favorite songs. I like it. This was the reason for me to switch to Spotify. But there were some other problems forced me to use another streaming service.

I just tried Apple Music some days ago and it is still in that way that I don't like. So I know what you mean.

@DenalB I could see liking it working this way, especially if it was always that way and I didn't have an existing library from years of liked songs. Personal preference I guess. At least we can actually have a sizeable library now! That's the important part.

@phronk

This was the idea behind that massive change of the library:

But that's another topic. 😉

but we were always able to have a sizable library through the Playlist Folder function, at least in Starred. I have almost 70,000 tracks i’ve been curating for the last 9 years in 7 different playlists grouped under one folder like this:
