[Android] Rearrange Tracks inside a Playlist

On my iPod I can manually move my songs around that are in my playlist, but I can't do the same on my phone which is what I mostly use. It would be easier to have that option on all devices.

Hey!

The Spotify Community team here.

We're pleased to confirm that this feature should now be available to all Android users.
We'd recommend double-checking that you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Once again, thanks for showing your support here in the Community.

Well now the Android app isn't working at all. Can't even add anything to Playlists at all. I sent a message to YouTube Red telling them to allow users to set custom Playlist to offline and numerous Spotify users will make the switch. Will keep you all posted.

@aramando  @hollyraif Already did that, and the answer was that they will "notify the developers..." same answer from Twitter.

I honestly think that this is not an evil plan or some conspiracy agains't Android (thus in favor of iOS), its a rather lack of a simple feature that slipped their quality analisys and then became forgotten, keeping note that Windows and iOS got it implemented something must be happened to Android, it is partially implemented in the "Now playing" virtual list where you can actually drag and drop and reorder songs so the code needed to make it work is not a problem because it is there.

More on that, when you ask for instructions on how to reorder songs they will tell you the same instructions that are given for iOS and Windows, then got surprised of not being able to reoder the playlist following step by step. Then it comes the "I will pass that to the developer team", something that probably never happens or, in case it does, it is promptly disgregarded.

On our side there is frustration of hitting a wall when no one listens to such a fair claim, after all its a music application and the first thing that should be capable of is to be able to reorder songs around... BASIC!

I made a YouTube video because sometimes it is better to show with images what are you talking about, I'm not sure if they view it or not, assume they don't since no response has been given yet even being a paid customer from several years now and also made everyone around me to be paid customers too: https://youtu.be/Zg0XeKLtQ88

Better yet, they provide us a forum to propose new ideas, but since this is basic functionality it doesnt fill the category of new idea thus making us to vote for it, its like asking for a PLAY button and then proposing as new idea to have a PLAY button and vote for it...

Besides, they don't check that even if you mention the 40 pages of complaints and the importance of such a request. Having said that all we have to do is reduced to: keep suffering... keep asking or keep searching a better Spotify alternative that fulfill such a simple request, sad.

I just joined Spotify....This can't be real? You cannot rearrange your songs in a playlist from an Android device?! Well that's enough for me to cancel! Wow, what is this, 1998??

ST3V3N206

I seriously can't believe it's been this long and still ! we are not able to rearrange our playlists? Instead YOU GIVE US OUR DAILY MIX?! So you wont code few ones and zeros so we can arrange our own playlist ? but you'll be happy to create a playlist for us with the " daily mix"? Thats weak sauce! Son!.. it must be Frank's weak sauce cause you guys are putting that $h!t on everything. BTW not that it matters but yes  I am a premium family subscriber and not having that basic feature is, well, I don't know cause I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around it but I'm about to unsubscribe since obviously you have no intent on doing it but I'm sure there's some real genius working on some lame **bleep** ideas to ruin the app as we speak and he's already got the greenlight.

Ugh Spotify this is some serious bull**bleep**, once this phone contract expires I'll also export my playlists to another service. Frustrating really.

I notice the latest release introduces a crappy new design for the context menus that wastes space and only starts listing track/album options from about half way down the screen, so that anything after about the 5th option is now off the bottom of the screen so you have to scroll up to see more. They chose to implement this poorly-conceived, pointless change of design rather than add a genuinely useful and glaringly absent feature. Spotify really is run by clowns.

SamanthaMS

Seriously Spotify, this is so stupid! Just add the feature! It's on everything, EXCEPT the TWO products I have!!!! Samsung phone and Chromebook!!!! It's extremely frustrating not having anything I'm allowed to rearrange them on. Please stop making me make a whole new playlist just to rearrange them.

EarlPurple

A new version and the menu is a lot bigger now but still has no option to move a track to a different location on the playlist.

Please add this basic feature for Android this 2017 😞 I don't have a personal laptop. Thanks in advance, Spotify.

I was looking the Help on Spotify's website and there is no mention about how to rearrange tracks inside a playlist on the Android page except on the "Up Next" queue (the only place where that basic functionality actually works) , I couldnt find this for IOS nor Windows although I know it is already implemented ages ago 🙂

I don't know how much else can we still do, I've seen that Spotify surpases for the firts time Netflix in paid subscribers and then reach 50M subscribers... however Android is being ignored with no chance for us (paid cutomers) to make a support ticket as any serious product have

And yet... the app for 80% of the cellphone market can't do such a basic task as rearrange songs inside a playlist... in 2017
