[Android] Rearrange Tracks inside a Playlist

On my iPod I can manually move my songs around that are in my playlist, but I can't do the same on my phone which is what I mostly use. It would be easier to have that option on all devices.

Hey!

The Spotify Community team here.

We're pleased to confirm that this feature should now be available to all Android users.
We'd recommend double-checking that you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Once again, thanks for showing your support here in the Community.

@SpotifyCares on twitter are aware of the problem, they ansered this to me: "Hey! This isn't possible right now, but you can show your support for the idea in our Community: spoti.fi/1Ej3eph /JN"

That link goes to... HERE

So part of them are aware of the problem, depending on who replies to your tweet. That's something 🙂

I got bored of waiting for spotify to add it to their app so I did it myself, this app allows you to reorder your tracks on your android device, enjoy 🙂 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.czaarek99.spotifyreorder

Good effort, but I'm sorry to say it really isn't usable, at least on my
phone (a OnePlus 3 running Android 7). It keeps restarting itself and going
through the logging in process, which on its own is enough to make it
literally unusable, but aside from that it also seems to really struggle
with even moderately long lists of tracks, so that scrolling through them
is incredibly jerky. It also needs to handle playlist folders to be of much
use to me. If you can address these issues I'll be excited to give it
another try!
Borowscy

Playlist folders will never happen as the spotify api does not allow retrieval of them. I have no issues on my galaxy s7 edge with scrolling in the playlist so I'm unsure why that happens, I'll have to look into it.

Do you get any errors while using the app? This is my first android app so I couldn't avoid bugs completely.

aramando
Ah, I had a feeling it might be an API limitation. Oh well. I didn't get
any errors as such, only the constant reinitialisation. That makes it hard
to really gauge the severity of the jerkiness problem, which wasn't there
at all times, so it may only be a loading issue.
Borowscy

So if I understand correctly you get thrown back to the "login" screen with the loading spinner?

Or do you just get thrown out of the track list back to the playlists?

EDIT: How long is the playlist you're trying to load btw?

@Borowscy WELL DONE!!! (please give kudos!)

It's a shame that somebody has to put his own effort to bring such a basic feature. It worked flawlesly here on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Thanks!

PS: Hello? Spotify Dev Team? Perhaps you should contact this guy to properly implement this "idea" in your Android app

jcsosia

Yes!! That's awesome! About to try it soon

Of course they are aware of the issue. As I've said before, it has to be a
deliberate strategy to support their business model. They want their
software on Windows pcs. The way to achieve this is to force Android users
to run Spotify on Windows to edit their playlists.

Followed, and retweeted! Good work.

Also, to the fella who made an app for this, will be promoting it everywhere!
