[Connect] Needed functionality: Using Spotify UI to stream to Sonos

Hello

I am tired of being "forced" to use Sonos UI when streaming Spotify music to my stereo.

It would be great if Spotify could could team up with Sonos and develop a feature enabling the Spotify UI to stream directly to the stereo via Sonos.

I heard a lot of people having the same wish.

That being said, Spotify really rocks 🙂

We’re thrilled to announce that Sonos now supports Spotify Connect. Spotify Premium users can now control their Sonos straight from the Spotify app. Check out this blog post for more details.

Hmm,

So i am a new paying customer of Spotify.

have several Sonos speakers in my house.

today i have to go into the spotify app mark a playlist or single song as a favorite (or follow)

then enter the sonos app and access it from there.

this is a pain in the ass.

so i'm gonna try out sonos and compare it with others and see if there are alternatives that are better.

it a reall shame that spotify include apple air play but dont care about the rest.

well to bad for spotiify cause today there are tons of alternatives!

PLEASE PLEASE add support for Sonos with Spotify Connect. You claim you are partners with Sonos, yet you refuse to support this integration, despite supporting dozens of other partner through the Connect feature. There is an overwhelming demand for this feature from loyal Spotify customers.

It is sonos who have decided not to support Spotify Connect. Spotify cannot force Sonos to implement support.

This quote from Sonos on the subject from their forums.

"As everyone following this conversation already knows, the decision has been made not to implement Spotify Connect. Like many such decisions, it’s complex, and we don’t want to go into the details.  To put it simply, we don’t see Spotify Connect as the right solution for Sonos at this time."

They go on to state "Our vision is to bring the Spotify-Sonos experience much closer to the experience you have when using the native Spotify app.  It’s going to take time, but work is in progress by both partners.  We’ll keep you posted."

Best wishes,
Rupert

Look, one of the reasons that we may not be engaging Spotify on this Sonos issue is that we have several ideas running related to Sonos and we are dispersed. So I suggest that we consolidate onto a single idea. Everyone supports it and we get up the ideas ladder. So I have created a new idea called "Improve the Spotify experience on Sonos", it has a tag of "Sonos". Please comment on it, add Kudos, tell people about it, and lets try to get it up the leader board.

PUSH the request for a solution!

I am going to have to change music streaming service soon if Spotify don't sort this out.  I only listen to Spotify on my Sonos system and the UI experience is rubbish.

In-app beaming from native apps is obviously the way forward. I can see that, everyone else can see that, and I presume John MacFarlane from Sonos is very, very aware of that!

Just hope Sonos manages to get Apple Music App to beam directly to Sonos Speakers.

If that is the case, I'm sure most Sonos customers who are all Spotify Premium users will not hesitate to switch from Spotify to Apple Music.

This totally should be intergrated as functionallity if it can be.

However, there is a work around using apple TV connected to Sonos and cast from the Spotify app to apple TV directly.
