[Desktop] Restore Cache Location Specification

I run on a machine with a small SSD for my OS and critical applications.

In previous versions of Spotify I have set my cache to my larger hard drive. Now this is no longer possible.

Now I am constantly having to manually clear my cache and am unable to specify where I want the files to be kept.

This needs to be restored.

Updated: 2015-07-08

Hey everyone, this feature is returning in the 1.0.9 Desktop update. That update is currently rolling out and should reach everyone quite soon.

I see everyone saying that Spotify have competitors and are considering alternatives and whatnot - what are these services called? I'm interested to see if any one else can provide a similar amount of music for the cost and with better software. BTW, I'm in the UK if that helps.

Spotify has 20 million songs and no working app in any OS, even the android app is slugish and problematic. Rdio has 20 million songs and i've heard that has the best desktop and mobile app of all of them. Deezer hast 40 million songs and has an windows 8.1 and mobile apps that actually works. Google music has 30 million songs and has mobile apps that works better tahn spotify. All of them costs the same 9.99€/month in my case.

If you guys want, for now, you can use the Web player of Spotify. Don't have to worry about desktop cache then... Temporary solution for those of you running out of space.

BTW, anyone know where the Offline files are saved in Windows 7 and Mac Yosemite? Thanks

I use Win 8.1 but I believe Win 7 would be the same or similar.  Spotify stores offline data files in this path: C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Spotify\Data

Great thanks! I thought it was there. But I guess they don't just put song files there huh? Bummer.
balayzell
No, the song files are encrypted.

Well please hurry, is the update with the settings coming along soon? Spotify cost me hours by getting me in trouble over a too small C:\ drive.   And what about better playlist functionality with numbers!!   With this amount of money you rip off of artists you should be able to make a decent program. I guess you save money on programmers too.

I like Spotify but I hate the company and the policies.

The music is also saved in the Storage folder?
In my case, the Data folder is 2.75 GB and Storage 1.64 GB

Is there a specific release set for this feature to come back?

If so, please let us know because otherwise I will cancel my subscription. It's too annoying to keep deleting my cache!

Dear Spotify. That feature is a must for me. Today i ran out of memory on my main harddisk, cause you want to have 14GB of Space.

So, i waited now for month to get a solution for this. I have to delete the software and i canceld my abo. If you dont react within month, i have to make a solution for myself!
