Discount Family Subscriptions!

Before I made the switch from Rdio to Spotify they (Rdio) came up with a pricing model that allowed families to purchase a slightly discounted subscription.

$9.99 for single unlimited user

$17.99 for 2 family members (20% discount)

$22.99 for 3 family members (50% discount)

Would love to see a similar pricing model so the rest of the family could get in on the action!

Hey folks! We've introduced Spotify Family. With Premium for Family, you and up to 5 members of the same household can each enjoy their own Premium account. All for one discounted price of $14.99.

Thanks for your kudos in the Community--we want your feedback.

A really good Idea!

What happened to this idea?  How long time does it take to come up with a deal that works good enough to be able to share accounts? I'm still waiting for some futures before buying premium, this being one of them.

An idea would be; me having my main account, and then I could "connect" someone else's account to my account, so that they can login using their account; allowing them to share my premium features. The more you pay, the more accounts you could connect to your spotify; still having discounts the more accounts you connect to your account.

Maybe 4+ or 5+ would be a fixed price, while adding one extra or three extra accounts has their price setting.

That way you still keep your login personal; and say I'd stop living with my partner and she's connected to my account; she wouldn't be able to login to my account and change my password and so on; and while I have her connected to my account; she share my premium features even though I pay for them. And, that way we could also have our different playlists. I mean, she could always subscribe to mine if she'd like to, and I could subscribe to hers if I'd like to listen to her music, and we can have our co-operative playlists if we wan't to share a playlist.. Maybe if you add a function making it possible to allow those that you are connected to to modify the same playlist as you; so that you can still make them public if you'd like to.

Just an idea. I hope this helps you in some way. And I hope you reply to this; because this is something I've been waiting for for a very long time.

Checking up on progression!

Would love a feature like this!

FYI,

Google Music allows multiple devices to access live streaming at the same time via a single account.  With their launch of All Access last week as a direct  competitor to Spotify, it's a compelling case to make the switch.  I'd rather stay w/ Spotify as I have multiple devices w/ nice Spotify apps that I use all of the time (Roku, etc.), not to mention rebuilding playlists would take a ton of time.  But I need to be able to stream on multiple devices concurrently w/out having to force one to offline mode.

Also, off topic, and not meant to hijack the thread, but lack of landscape in mobile is infuriating.  I have to utilize a third party app to force it into landscape as the docks for both my phone and my tablet are landscape.

If there was a family plan I would sign up my wife, and my parents. This is a superb idea and in-line with Netflix's recent update allowing family sharing of up to 5 devices per household for a single monthly rate.

Go shared plans! Go!

Hopefully you guys are still looking at comments on this feature. Here's my user story:

As a mother with a tween daughter who is just learning to independently use mobile devices and to choose her own music, I want to enable a joint account to share account information, so that I can monitor and control while also allowing her increasing freedom.

My acceptance criteria:

Given that I have a premium account and several devices with Spotify App installed

* I can create a sub-account for one or more children

* I can specify which of my playlists are available to her.

* When my daughter uses Spotify she will see any playlist that has been made available to her

* My daughter can create playlists for herself

* Playlists created by my daughter will be available to me when I am logged in.

* Playlists created by my daughter can be edited and revoked by me -- essentially becoming one of my own. (Not as critical)

* From my account management page I can see when she has logged on and when she was listening to tracks (no use at school - might be a different user story, but related to my want to monitor appropriate usage)

* I can temporarily deactivate my daughter's account (restriction of privileges).

Essentially I want options for giving her freedom while being able to ensure responsible usage, reinforced with the ability to set temporary reductions in the features/content available to her.

I would be willing to pay an additional fee per month, on the order of 50-75% of my own premium, depending on the feature richness.

You really should do the family plan. Me and my mom both want to use spotify but we cant at the same time. We both love it. If you did the family plan we would definitly subscribe. It is definitly an amazing idea! Please do it!

Over one year and no response or update. Usual for Spotify. I am using the FREE service for multiple people in my family. I see no need to pay at all.

Too bad for everyone. I just buy music and use the free app to sync music to my phone and tolerate the ads.

I'll just buy my music from Amazon. I can get a CD, plus digital, plus streaming. $50/month for my family is a pretty good music budget.
