Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Dear Spotify, I've used you forever but Smart Shuffle may change that.  Clearly, many of your customers don't want it.  Give us an option to disable it.  Your less hands-on customers won't bother disabling it and you can promote to them via Smart Shuffle to your heart's content while keeping the rest of us happy.

Smart shuffle is only a feature so Spotify can feel fresh and engaging and at the forefront of the AI craze in board meetings. They should much rather work through the tickets and complaints and pay their 'programmers debt' to make the features that we pay for work better.

Forcing smart shuffle on us like this to boost user's engagement with the feature is in itself admitting that the feature sucks.

If I do want automatically generated playlists, there are many ways to get that – without stopping me from randomising the order of my self made playlists.

I'd drag my tongue across a mile of hot coals, broken glass and coarse salt for this. It's been a year. There is no reason, other than corporate agenda, to not have this.

Amen brother. And if you aren't careful, this setting will screw up your playlist and it takes a while to undo it.

Another solution could be to have Smart Shuffle as a separate button, rather than combining it with the shuffle/unshuffle button.

They could easily make it a separate button, make it more obvious when it is enabled or even do what we all want by allowing us to disable it permanently in settings... But, the thing is, they don't want to. They're obviously willing to push the boundaries of how much people will tolerate before cancelling their subscription, just to try and scrape for a little more money.

Good suggestion, yeah damn **bleep**ing straight it is, yet, we see nothing of this happening. Why is this """feature""" even implemented when the normal shuffle doesn't even work properly. Off to soundcloud it is!

Why are the Spotify developers actually stupid?

not being nice at this point. You ruined a good product by forcing smart shuffle and ads onto your premium customers. 

I want Spotify to not exist anymore and I will work to see that all of their customers leave.
