[Music] Block / Hide / Blacklist Tracks or Artists

The Star feature should be complemented with a way to mark tracks as excluded. Those tracks would then be skipped even when included in the current playlist.
This way the enjoyment of a good album wouldn't be disrupted by tracks you don't like, while the album in its entirety can still be kept in the playlist.
The Anti-star can easily be implemented as a flipside to the regular star as they are mutually exclusive. Click the star once, the track becomes a favorite. Click again, the star icon changes to the anti-star and click a third time and either flag is gone.

A no-brainer to me.

Hey,

Thanks for coming to the Community Idea Exchange.
We're marking this idea as 'Implemented'.

The option 'Don't play this artist' is now available on iOS and Android.

You can also find more info on hiding individual tracks from playlists or albums here.

If we have any information about this on other platforms in the future, we'll report back!

for $10 a month i definitely feel like i should be able to blacklist an album or artist completely, regardless of the reason.

not being able to do so is my only complaint thus far though with the service, i just hope that they eventually add this feature.

Hello fellow Spotify users. Today is the first day that I actually wanted to block an artist. I searched for "Around the world" cos I wanted to play the bass line of that song on my bassguitar. I clicked the top song just as I am used to cos Red hot chili peppers' songs are always on top ;D but to my dismay I heard something horrible. It was justin bieber singing something like "girl girl bla bla". His song was on the top! f that! I need this feature right now goddangit!! Spotify crew please fix this or get rid of bieber and you will have my thanks

I've been thinking about this as well for a while. I like to queue up a new playlist in my desktop app or mobile app and while I listen to it I star the track if I really like it and I don't star it if I don't particularly like it. This works great for the songs I love but later while in the Spotify App I have no idea if I didn't listen to a song before or if I listened to it and I didn't like it. It gets really hard to tell if things are in Shuffle mode!

A thumbs up (star) and a thumbs down (anti-star) approach would really help when filtering through the endless amounts of music in Spotify. This is one of my most desired functions within Spotify.

This isn't really that complicated.  Implement a 'Never play this song' and a 'Never play this artist' feature.  Simple.

Seriously.  If I want to listen to Billboard top hits, I don't want to hear Jay Z talking about how hard his balls are.  He probably has some epididymal blockage or testicular cancer.  It would be great if I could just never have to hear that track again.  He can go on having his "hard-ball" friends and I will go on enjoying the rest of the chart.

Kind of like the "Star" feature, you can click on a something like an "X" declaring you HATE that song and it will skip over that song in ANY of your playlists or radio stations. Pretty much just a universial please stay out of my life, kay thanks. And of course being able to access a list of those songs unless you change your mind.

Really nice idea 😉

I will use it often!

Ugh. I would LOVE this.

I like the idea. This would surely help out, since there are artists that I don't enjoy that much, so them being on a subscribed playlist is just bad. If this function would just "flag" the song to never be plaid even if on ANY playlist - then this is certainly a must. Kudod+

hello folks, I just merged a new idea to this one since it was requesting the same feature.

Please add your kudos and comments if you want to see this implemented it 😉

Thanks everyone for your awesome feedback!
