Picture on Profile

I would like to suugest the option of adding our own pictures or avitars WITHOUT linking it to our Facebook accounts.

I know there are some of us that were fortunate enough to get Spotify before it linked with Facebook and I would love to add my picture on the account page.

WHY does Spotify require a paying customer to link to facebook in order to have photo for their profile?   Facebook has so many problems and negative qualities -- WHY do I have to use facebook to complete my profile here?!

Do I need to go create a dummy Facebook account or what?!!

I am a free user and love spotify.  I am thinking about subscribing to spotify premium but have not pulled the trigger because I want to change my profile picture to what I want and not being forced to use my Facebook picture.

Please add the feature of changing profile picture and you'll gain one new premium user.

Seems pretty basic, just prompts a need for an online databaseof user profile pics.

I'm also completely uninterested and put off at the though of having to connect 'through facebook' to spotify for ANY spotify feature.

If I wanted to pay for doing something through facebook, I would pay facebook (or not as the case may be!!)

I expect to NOT be forced to do something via facebook after paying a premium Spotify subscription. Forcing newer users to link through facebook is just a cunning way of continuing to force more advertising upon them, hence generate more income for spotify, This DOES NOT deliver a better service for spotify users!

Please add an option to use this feature WITHOUT facebook soon!

In short, there is no substantive evidence that the "ideas" section has worked for the customer in the past year or more. Spotify basically doesn't listen to their customers. They opt instead to mollify their customers with happy talk, empty promises, and the illusion of voting.

Totally dumb. How hard is it this honestly? I guess you've revolutionized music but you can't figure that out... My guess is you've contracted with FB to give them priority.

I left facebook with 2500 friends because I truly got over it. And I am a very tech oriented, social person. Why are we LESSER THAN? If anything they should be the ones who are grayed out! lol...

If Facebook's bloated failings can teach us anything it's, KEEP IT SIMPLE. But not so simple that if you have a place for a picture that your own paying customers come in second place.

It's enough to make me question my decision to use Spotify over Rdio. I'll probably switch over in a month if they can't even make this happen. I left facebook for a reason. I don't want it following me everywhere.

I wonder if the new Google Play Music service allows users to add pictures to their profiles without requiring them to go through Facebook? And right now, it costs $2 less per month than Spotify.

One more vote for this if it matters.  Being able to upload an avatar pic is a feature of pretty much every forum site on the web.  I'm a premium member and this isn't going to make a bit of difference in my choice to maintain my membership but.. if you're looking at growing your community, allowing users to personalize their accounts is really one of the very first things you should be doing.

Really guys I love the song selection, love having a native linux client (seriously, thanks for that) and I'm sure you have a roadmap set already loaded with feature requests but how hard is it to add a column in the user table of your database to store a 150x220 image blob and a "browse to image" button?  It's not a 2 week project 😉

Anyway, I'd like to have it.  I think its integral to building a community and.. I really like what you've done so far.

I've had spotify since its very first launch. And yet it is not possible to have a small avatar without submitting to the failbook. Seriously, Spotify crew. It's a feature that could be fixed during a coffee break even. Or does the failbook overlords prevent you from doing this somehow?
