[Playlists] Merge / Add a Playlist to another Playlist

It would be great to combine playlists together. With the option to avoid multiples of the same track(s) along with a prompt to confirm the addition of one playlist to another.

Updated on 2023-05-04

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that this feature is now available on Android, iOS and Desktop.

You just need to select the playlist, then choose the option  "Add to other playlist" > and add it to the desired playlist.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

Imagine you are having a great day, a great playlist of songs, and a great attitude throughout the day. Everything is perfect. Next, we travel to tomorrow. Everything is going alright. Yesterday was great but we want something different that speaks to us today. Something that'll remind us of a world as good as it can be, and a world to which our actions everyday create who we are. Spotify, can let you choose the songs you want in your playlists on a given day, easily. (The more playlists the better). By choosing a group of songs(Copying), you can add them in bulk to your new or existing playlists(Pasting). Next, we have combining playlists! Combine playlist #1 and playlist #2 and get playlist #3! And not to worry! Playlist #1 and #2 still exist and can be deleted separately if you want. Let's create new days and new experiences for us while being reminded of where we started, and how we've now grown.

Spotify, if this poses a problem for you in data storage, consider adding an automatic playlist deletion, that will ask if they the listener, would like to keep the playlist before it's deleted, as well as adding an option to permanently save playlists, which is what is implemented now.

I am a business owner myself, and understand that giving the customer options is the route towards customer satisfaction. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and don't be a stranger if you have any questions. You have my email. Thanks again.

Seems like a program that has so much functionality and users would have this.

I have a few play lists each around 70 songs that I WOULD love to consolidate and have duplicates removed.

Can you please add this functionality?

Thanks.

Please read the previous comments. There is a pretty simple workaround.
If you are on a desktop, create a new playlist in which you're going to merge all other playlists. For all playlists you want to add, select all songs within the playlist and just add them to your new playlist. Spotify will ask if you want to 'Skip Duplicates' which should to the job.
If you're not sure how to (easily) select all songs in a playlist, or how to add all of them to another one, read the previous comments, as the details are already given. Or else, reply to me and I will be happy to help you further

You used to be able to easily do this on Spotify and now you can't. I'm sure it's an easy fix on an update, so i'm not sure what they're waiting for. Useless.

Need the option to merge playlist on mobile application without duplicating songs..I have about 3 playlists I would like to merge with about 300 songs each....

I am not sure if other people do this but, I like to make a playlist based on my recently favorite songs. Certain playlist have selected artists.I know I made several playlists that have the same songs, but now going back I want to clean out my playlists.

Being able to merge them will eliminate any songs that are overlapped, or duplicated, in the merging playlists. It would be grate to be able to acces this from the desktop platform like that maybe we can see the cross differation in the songs between the playlists.

This should be a default option in the app. I have two playlists that I like a lot but I want to put them together so I can shuffle all the songs. Come on Spotify... what do I pay 10$ a month for? How hard is it to implement adding whole playlists together on the app? If the computer program can do it I'm sure the app is able

Hey @vs0186,

You can do that by using playlist folders. For example, I have a folder named 2000s which includes all my 2000s playlists (Pop, Rock, Dance, Indie). Double clicking the folder will play all songs included, which you can shuffle.

Hope it helps. 🙂

Thanks but I don't think you can do that in the app, only on the desktop. I only use the app

It works there too. You get All Songs as an option.
