[Podcasts] Adjust Audio Speed of Podcasts (1.5x or 2x)

I have just discovered podcasts in the Spotify mobile app and as an avid podast fan I'm delighted to finally see this feature!

I would love to be able to alter the speed of a podcast, to play at 1.5X or 2X the default speed as per the default apple podcast app I currently use.

As many podcasts I listen to are very long (up to 2 hours), until such time as the playback speed can be altered I will use the apple podcast app to listen to podcasts.

Adjustable playback speed on podcasts (I can see more issues with regulation, etc. for licensed music) is essential to gain market share in the podcast market and helps keep users invested and dedicated to the spotify ecosystem / community. 

Wired ran this story (https://www.wired.com/2017/02/learn-faster-by-speeding-up/) earlier this year and points to ~10% of audible listeners listen at a faster speed and up to ~50% of users then using the overcast app. This is a sizeable audience and I'd bet a user base that has significantly greater listening time/week than the average user.

I'd love to see this prioritized 🙂

Another vote from me! 1.5x has been my podcast listening speed for a while now and 1x really drags in comparison. Not being able to use it is the only thing keeping me from doing all my listening in Spotify.

This is a great idea!

Sometimes I have a hard time understading things at the normal speed so I have to slow it to 0.9x or 0.8x and I won't be able to fully transfer my podcast listening to spotify until it would have that option.

Yeah, I just tought about this! Youtube is really great because of it, but forces you to watch. Spotify could bring the best of Youtube Podcasts putting this option available. I think is a question of time, its pretty ridiculous this option not been release.

locking the speed on each soundtrack so next time you play the podcast/music file it automatically change to the speed you used last (lockicon thats oldschool?) would be neat.


Placing another slidy jumpy thingy over the current for audio strength would fit pretty well.... Dont ya think? 2 lock icons next to the speaker audio & speed icon would also fit.


Adding the requested feature wont look silly with the layout I described, and it will be very useful (the explanation is for mac os / windows program layout)

Photoshopping a deomstration is something I can do (email me, and I will do it over a weekend) if Spotify wish.
