[Social] Bring back Inbox/Messaging with Notifications

The Inbox/Messaging feature did not get a real shot at even being a feature because Spotify took away notifications for new messages. Give Inbox/Messaging some development so users can continue to privately share songs.

Hi everyone,

 

We're excited to announce that this feature is making a return! 😎 The new revamped Messages lets users share content directly with friends inside the Spotify app and instantly start a conversation about it.

can you really call this an update when you have made it harder for people to share their music? i am planning a wedding and music is a big part of that..i have asked people to message me the 3 most meaningfull song to them and now they are all gone. thats ontop of the ones my partner and i have sent each other over the years.

 

 

WHEN WILL YOU BE TURNING THIS FEATURE BACK ON or "UPDATING" AGAIN?

@lozzal: Wow i didnt think of all the people that might have done similar lists and sharing for weddings!!!. I hope for your sake they bring it back and retrieve all your messages. Make sure you share this thread and get friends to vote. The vote was at 20 something the other day now over 200. Fingers crossed!

Bring this feature back !!!! It's not an evolution. It's different to share something through FB or twitter and to send it to a friend inside Spotify... 

Not everybody wants to share music to their social network...

Bring it back and restore all the messages please !

I agree, I read somewhere on the forum that Spotify removed this feature due to the amount it costs for the up keep in comparision to how many people use it. I used it constantly but it never worked properly, taking ages to show messages on both desktop and mobile if at all further more it was never in an accessible place (Android). The amount of times I had to search around for it. So many of my friends on spotify didnt even know it existed. Personally I think if Spotify spent time showing off this feature and fixed those errors the problem with people using it wouldn't be so. It seems like a quick reactionary decision, it's a real shame.

This shouldn't even be a discussion. The sharing feature IS Spotify.

Disappointed to learn that my sharing capabilities have been reduced to social media which I hardly use.

 

I have many friends across many cities that connect through music and the loss of music sharing is a real morale killer. I guess I'll return to sharing YouTube links via text message...

The fact that this is marked as a new idea is ridiculous.
Direct sharing/messaging had all the features that it needed, the only thing needed was for them to fix what they had allowed to become broken. If they had good development practices, it never would have become a problem.

Well that and actually make messages accessible and visible. Don't nest them 4 pages deep on mobile, give notifications, etc.
