Apple Watch: Offline Listening

 

watchOS 5 should allow Spotify to develop an app that allows offline listening and streaming via cellular data.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

Тhis has been one of our most upvoted ideas and we've known it's something that our users would really like to see come true. We're happy to announce that this feature will now become available for the Apple Watch Series 3 or later.


It will be gradually rolled out, so it might take a bit until everybody has access to it.  That being said, we'd like to let you know that the roll-out rate has increased a lot in the last weeks, so if you haven't received the feature in the past, try reinstalling the app on your watch again and there's a big chance you'll get Offline listening now.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better and voting to make this happen, here on the Community.

Would be great to have an apple watch app. i'm considering switching to apple music just to be able to listen on my watch while working out.

What is getting me at this point is that this might not be a thing in Watch OS 4. A good developer that creates a podcasting app had to remove the feature as it would stop working in iOS 4. You can see all the details here.

 

Marco is a great developer and it was gonna take him a month.

C´mon!  Make an app that allows to offline download our music to the watch. This, and an  Apple TV app, it´s all I ask, Spotify.

Only showing one OSystem letting others apps working and doing what all should have done long time ago!
Some are willing to change to AM some letting Appe ecosystem to Android...

I am almost sure that Apple and Google have some guilty on aproove or not the use of Spotify with all potencial!

Will there ever be a spotify app for the Watch? What is the official statement of Spotify on this? I just bought the Watch and was hoping that I could leave my iPhone at home when I go out for a run 😞

As long as there is no app for the Watch I see two options:

1. Cancel my subscription and return to download mp3's like back in the days

2. Cancel my subscription and start using Apple music instead

 

Spotify must realize that they will lose customers this way...
