Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

Тhis has been one of our most upvoted ideas and we've known it's something that our users would really like to see come true.
We're happy to announce that this feature will now become available for the Apple Watch Series 3 or later.

It will be gradually rolled out, so it might take a bit until everybody has access to it.  That being said, we'd like to let you know that the roll-out rate has increased a lot in the last weeks, so if you haven't received the feature in the past, try reinstalling the app on your watch again and there's a big chance you'll get Offline listening now.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better and voting to make this happen, here on the Community.

I did option 2 many months ago. Apple Music is working great for me. The user interface takes some getting used to, and I am honestly not completely sire that I have, but I have yet to not find any content. It is stable and working great.

I've been a huge supporter of Spotify (especially Spotify connect) for quite some time now but I wouldn't mind switching to Apple Music if I won't be able to play my Offline-Playlists on the watch. It's an essential feature to me now (I've been getting around with the free trial of Apple Music until now). I know Apple and Spotify don't particulacy like each other but it's always bad if it gets to the customer.

As of now I'm still optimistic for a release of "Snowy". Who knows, maybe they'll even announce it on the September event along with a new Apple Watch like they did with the (also long overdue) Amazon Video App. There is still no official announcement from Spotify that they're working on this app right? (apart from the developer confirming it on reddit) so that might be an opportunity. If it's not happening this year I would like many others apparently make the switch to Apple Music. I'm sure lots of Apple Watch owners do have a Spotify subscription and they certainly won't pay for two services to be able to work out with music. So let's just hope that it will happen like it is vaguely communicated right now.

DELETE PLEASE

Unless it actually stores the music on the watch, then the whole point is lost.
The watch already has a basic play remote.

This thread is requesting Spotify offline playback for Apple Watch, so you would not have to take the phone with you for exercising. This suggested Spotwatch Remove  (two messages up) does not offer offline playback.

Itunes offers offline playback, Spofity does not.

O.K. Sorry.

I delete my post.

but isn't that what Apple have the right to do as a business? They've released a digital watch under their name so it only seems logical that they'd want clientele to use Apple Music, their designated streaming app. Yes, Spotify has a better interface but my guess this is a client loyalty issue...unless Spotify and Apple Music combined to make a watch app...'Applify?' Spapplefy? Etc

Sure they can do what they want but they have to be careful. Apple can find themselves in trouble with the DOJ and an antitrust case. If you recall their Antitrust case with ebooks and they lost.

Anyways at this point its not apple its spotify holding up the train here.

I will say having Music on my Watch while at the gym is a bigger deal than I thought. I leave my phone in the car. Not having my phone I’m looking at every notification, text, or taking phone calls. Having that disconnect I noticed how much time people spend just looking at their phones at the gym. Also, my workouts have my flow as I’m not taking extra long breaks fiddling with my phone. Overall for me its a game changer in the gym.

I’m currently using an app called iMusic (Paid App) that if for my Mac. It downloads songs and creates the playlist in iTunes. Pretty much a hack but it gets the music on my watch and that's all I care about.

It is not spotifys decision. Apple will not currently allow them to make a watch app because they are in competition with apple music.
