Ability change speed/pitch of song

Hey everyone!

I think it would be an amazing feature to be able to speed up/slow down songs natively in the app. This would obviously also affect the pitch of the desired song(s). Meaning, it doesn't sound like the YouTube player where it just speeds it up without changing the pitch. In reality, it would actually sound nice. It would be very helpful, in my opinion, to re-listen to the same song, but almost from a different perspective. As you know, some songs sound really good sped up or slowed down. There are hundreds of user accounts on virtually any social media platform, showcasing videos of Spotify's lyrics, but with the song sped up (most likely made using CapCut, etc.). Adding this into the app would not only make it easier to find songs, instead of having to search for them on social media, but it would also prevent the publishing of copyright infringed content onto the platform. Meaning, people wouldn't have to create artist accounts featuring sped up/slowed down versions of songs that they don't have the rights to. They would already be available natively in the app. I've seen hundreds (if not, thousands) of people ask for this feature and I think it would be a nice touch on something that no other platform has implemented.

Note:

I did find a pretty similar idea here, but I decided to re-open it since it has been nearly 5 years. I'm trying to be honest with y'all, please don't remove the idea just because it is a "duplicate". If possible, an update would be nice, regarding if this feature will ever come or not, since it did say in the OP's post that they would give an update regarding this. Hopefully it will gain some kind of traction

Thanks,

Bryce 🤠

Agreed! I always feel bad for the original artist of the song when there’s someone out there reusing their work and getting tons of streams just because they tweaked the speed of the song a bit.  With this change, users who want to listen to the different speeds of the same song could be confident they’re giving those streams to the original artist!

I currently leave the Spotify app and go to YouTube when I want to do this. Adding this feature would keep me on the app, which I think is the goal

This feature would also help dancers and language learners

This feature (especially slow down) would also help dance teachers.

I am desperate for this feature really.

It would be great to be able to speed up/slow down the track, raise or lower the pitch as you wish. Very cool option

I love playing.my favourite tracks but no sooner as one starts I want to consume it ! I want you to play my tracks at a faster pace that still means the song and beat is recognizable bit quicker so I can move onto the next one

I don't care about the pitch. It's fine if they have the fancy pitch fix. But it's *essential* to be able to slow down the track for the sake of working out fast parts by ear onto an instrument. I can't believe it doesn't have this function. Also I can't vote for some reason even though I'm logged in. Annoying. Wanted to vote yes somewhere. Also faster speed for podcasts/books similarly make sense  - same basic and essential function that is missing.

Unique? No, my idea is not unique! It's obvious, basic, and essential. Many people have been asking for this for years:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Ability-change-speed-pitch-of-song/idi-p/5794066/page/2#...

Now, in my case, I would like it from 25 to 100 percent because I would use it for transcribing music. Currently I use YT, which I don't pay for. Other people also want the speed to be faster, like it is for podcasts. Great. I can relate to that. I might listen to them faster, too, if people talk slowly. I often do that on YT. BECAUSE YT HAS THE OBVIOUS BASIC FUNCTIONALITY. Do I have to go back to reel-to-reel? No, just YT, which again I don't have to pay for. You need to do better and get this function up and running ASAP.

Also, anyone who wants the function should upvote or like some of the old instances of speed change. Maybe the company will get a clue.

wth? I submitted my idea as a new idea. And it gets put on here as a comment. **bleep** annoying.
